…passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, December 29, 2011.
Gladys Esther (Rice) Law was born on June 5, 1912 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Mary Alice (Hallows) and Finis Ewing Rice. She married John William Law on December 24, 1929. They lived on the farm with her parents until shortly after the birth of their first son, John. They then moved to the nearby town of Rocky Ford, where their second son, Leonard, was born. Gladys was always supportive and helpful in John's farm holdings and varied business ventures. She lovingly cared for her widowed mother for twenty years until her mother's death in 1975. In 1998 she moved to Denver to be nearer to family and promptly became a faithful member of Riverside Church.
She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Rocky Ford, having joined in 1921. She served as church treasurer, organist, pianist, Sunday school teacher, and many other services. Gladys made the world brighter as a supportive wife, devoted mother, attentive grandmother, faithful friend, and civic volunteer. She was always kind, consistently generous, unfailingly gracious, impeccably hospitable, and always concerned with the welfare of others. She will be remembered as a wonderful conversationalist, lifelong learner, prolific letter writer, and most importantly a faithful servant and friend of Jesus, who she could not help but share with those around her.
Her memory will be treasured by the family she leaves behind: her two sons, John F. (Carol) Law of Colorado Springs and Leonard C. Law of Denver, four grandchildren Jonna (Paul) Gabrielson of Colorado Springs, Don (Susie) Law of Denver, Cynthia (Dr. Mark) Olson of Limon, and Brett Law of Frisco, CO, ten great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren with another joining the group in January. She was welcomed by many loved ones in heaven, including her parents, her husband, and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at Riverside Baptist Church in Denver on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. This will be followed by a graveside service at the Rocky Ford cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
