

Henrietta Louise Bakker was born Nov. 3, 1927, in Lebanon, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Marie Vree DeMots. She passed from this life into glory on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Bethany Rehabilitation Center and Nursing Home at the age of 89.
Henrietta married Ronald Peter Bakker in March of 1951 in Denver, Colorado. They had four sons: Steven, Rod, Tim, and Perry.
Henrietta was a graduate of Gettysburg, South Dakota High School. After graduation, Henrietta left the family farm and moved to Denver where she worked at Shwayder Brothers. She later moved to Phoenix, AZ where she worked as a bookkeeper at Korric’s Department Store. She met Ron Bakker in the church she attended. They were married in Denver, Colorado where they eventually settled and raised four sons.
Henrietta was deeply devoted to her family. Henrietta worked tirelessly to raise her sons and kept a beautiful home. Henrietta was a gracious hostess extending a warm welcome to visitors. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and created beautiful needle-point. Henrietta belonged to many churches during her life including the Four Square Church of her childhood, Christian Reformed Church, Calvary Temple, First Nazarene Church, Bear Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church and most recently faithfully attended chapel at Bethany Rehabilitation Center. She was a woman of strong Christian faith who loved Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. Henrietta will always be remembered for her smile, her kind heart and her love for her family.
Henrietta is survived by her sons, Steve (Joanne) Bakker of Bigfork, MT, Rodney (Christy) Bakker of Quincy, IL, Timothy (Dinette) Bakker of Elk Horn, NB, and Perry (Karen) Bakker of Littleton, CO. Henrietta had sixteen grandchildren, Jamie (Eric) Peters, Shawn (Amanda) Bakker, Jessica (Phil) Plunkett, Seth (Silver) Bakker, Heather (Justus) Ghormley, Joshua (Signe) Bakker, Amanda (Joel) Austin, April (Charles) Baxley, Tyler (Skye) Bakker, Cody (Melissa) Bakker, Dusty (Amy) Bakker, Desiree Bakker, Aaron Bakker, Jon Bakker, Nick (Kaiana) Bakker and Joe Bakker. Henrietta had ten great grandchildren. Henrietta is also survived by two sisters, Jeanette Mehlhaff and Sharon Slater; a brother and his wife John and Eudell DeMots; two half brothers, Garrett and Douglas; and a half-sister and her husband: Yolanda and Randy Marsh. Henrietta had 25 nieces and nephews.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters: Ann, Louise, and Grace and their husbands; a nephew, Mark Slater; and two nieces, Mary Saylor and Stephanie Marsh.
Funeral Service was held at 11 am, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO with a visitation prior to service at 10:00 am. A reception followed the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Services were conducted by The Rev. Rodney J. Bakker.
