Irene was the big sister to all and she enjoyed helping her mom. She especially enjoyed helping with the laundry and throughout her life that joy continued. Irene had a great love of art, quitting high school to pursue art and painting.
Art was to take a back seat as she married Leon Densmore on December 26th 1952. The two started life living in her mom and dad’s basement. While living there they started building a house next door. They had no experience but Irene’s father and mother had built a number of homes so they were a great help. Irene’s brothers and sister helped as well. While building the house (most likely at the speed of money} they had a son David in August of 1955. Then in October of 1956 they had a daughter Diane. The house was completed in 1957 and Irene lived there until August of 2024.
Irene worked for Eagle Claw making fishing hooks for a short time.
She also completed a certification as a Practical Nurse in March 1952.
She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom taking care of the house the children and the yard. She greatly enjoyed her flowers throughout the yard. On the weekends she loved to fish she would sit on her chair using a single salmon egg always on a gold 12 hook - no other would do. We would vacation in the mountains to fish. She did not like to put them back so we had fish for breakfast, lunch and also dinner.
In 1975 Irene and Leon divorced. As the years went on and Diane and David moved out on their own. Irene went to work for Porters Hospital in Environmental Services. She became employee of the month many times and even employee of the year. Irene was a hard worker amassing18 years without ever calling in sick. Irene only stopped working when her feet and back had enough. While working at Porters she took up art and painting again. She painted many beautiful pictures; she had a great talent for painting.
After retirement she was very much a homebody, and enjoyed watching the TV show Survivor, Animal Planet and Judge Judy. Irene’s faith in God was very strong and she spent many hours reading the Bible, reading it 3 times completely.
In August of 2024 Irene’s health required her to move to Highline Place Memory Care in Littleton Co. There she was surrounded by caring loving people. She spent many hours playing Bingo, continuing to paint and many other games. She greatly enjoyed going to church there, especially singing the songs. She had many people to talk to and the staff were so great that she made many friends there.
Irene passed away very peaceably in her sleep on 4 /17/2026 she was 95 years old.
