Jain Kathleen (Burger) Paauw died at home, surrounded by her family, on June 28, 2021, in Palmer Lake, Colorado. She had a brief, intense struggle with leukemia.
Jain was born March 22, 1958 in Denver, Colorado to Paul and Mary Ad Burger. She graduated from Denver Christian High School and the University of Northern Colorado. Her work and career focused on those she loved to serve: children and refugees and immigrants learning English as their second language. Her massive collection of children’s books will be donated to Native American reservations.
She is survived by her brother W. Kent Burger and wife Boitumelo along with their children Collen, Thatayaone, and Itu, husband Glenn, son Justin and wife Lisa along with their four children, Jessa, Landon, McKinley, and Hallie, and her son Colin.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 9, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs, and is open to all. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Centennial, Colorado.
