James "Jim" McKinnon passed away on July 23, 2025, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, two sons, and two granddaughters. Jim was born and raised in Tucumcari, New Mexico, and graduated from Eastern New Mexico State University. Throughout the years, he worked for the New Mexico State Highway Department and several engineering companies. He also worked as a cabinetmaker and enjoyed doing woodworking projects in his garage. He was a former member of the Front Range Woodturners Association.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family - especially his sons and granddaughters. He enjoyed camping and boating with his sons and volunteered with their Boy Scout and Explorer Scout Troops. After he retired he took up bicycling and spent hours riding the many bicycle trails in the area.
Jim will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those he leaves behind.
