John was the child of Carlos and Rosetta Armbruster, born January 20, 1933 in Englewood, Colorado. He was preceded by siblings Chuck, Betty, Dorothy, Jane "Ruama", Richard, Robert, and followed by Paul.
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, where he met his soon-to-be wife, JoAnn.
Married September 21, 1951 they bought their first house and settled in Council Bluffs, Iowa starting a family with the birth of June and Jeff.
Due to health issues, the family relocated to Littleton, Colorado where they remained for many years, made close friends, and special memories.
Colorado was the perfect place for John to pursue all his passions like fishing, hunting, gold panning, metal detecting, and camping. He also spent time with his church, the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
Although John had no previous experience, he dreamed of becoming a police officer and started his career as a patrolman for Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department working his way up to Investigator, then Captain, while moonlighting for years doing security to help make ends meet.
When the position opened up for Undersheriff of Douglas County, John and JoAnn moved to Castle Rock until he decided to start his own business "AA Services"; serving legal papers for various judges and lawyers until he decided to retire early and travel.
Many trips, tours, and cruises were taken over the years with friends and family- most of them more than once! They enjoyed; Australia, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, England, as well as enjoying the USA from coast to coast.
In the downtime John pursued his love of gambling by moving to Laughlin, Nevada where he also worked for the Coroner's office and volunteered for Homeland Security before moving to Mesquite. However, his love for Colorado, family, and friends brought them to Grand Junction and later back to Denver.
As John's pace began to slow down, he enjoyed puzzles, stamp collecting, birdwatching, playing games and lots of time sharing jokes, pictures, and stories via email.
Although his last year was a sad one, taking care of JoAnn and losing her to cancer in January, he was excited about spending quality time with his kids June and Jeff, his grandkids Pepper, Seth, and Mitch as well as his great grandkids Cameron and Bryn.
John loved life and its endless possibilities, but unfortunately his time was cut short by a stroke.
Perhaps he'll be able to finish that last wish list after all and the best thing is, it will all be free!!
G'day Mate!!
