John Thomas (Tom) Harris passed away at home on August 21st, 2020 at the age of 86. Tom was born on January 19th, 1934 in Jeffersonville Indiana to John T Harris and Susan Matilda Buckman. As child, Tom loved fishing and swimming. Tom married Anna Elizabeth on February 19th, 1955 and they were married for an amazing 63 years. They moved to Denver in 1958 and together they had four daughters, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Tom’s hobbies included many outings with the family such as camping, drive-ins, Shakeys, driving through the Colorado Rocky Mountains, attending musicals, going to the Flying W Ranch Chuck wagon cookout, and listening to country music at White Fence Farm. He also enjoyed reading and research and being a Ham Radio operator for WBOZRK.
Tom received an electronic degree from the military where he served in both the Air Force and Navy and was stationed in Korea and Douglas Air Force Base in Wyoming. After serving in the military he worked for Montgomery Ward as a TV repairman, Porter Hospital as the Director of Biomedical Engineering and was a Denver School Bus Driver.
Tom was always known to be funny and even goofy at times. He was a great listener, had a keen sense of knowledge, was kind to others and always had a genuine interest in those around him, making him a trusted friend to many. He was very passionate about his family, spirituality, research, and health and was known to be protective of his family and those he cared about. We all know that Tom’s intelligence and contagious smile will be missed by all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Debbie Van Allen, Mary Elizabeth Walker (Christopher), Laura Sue Casey, and Christine Marie Fisk (Kennon), his grandchildren, Melissa Ann Van Allen, Elizabeth Su-Marie Van Allen, Carissa Maria Marshall (Walker), Brandi Lynn Casey, Shelby Lorraine Casey, Preston Michael Casey, Jaclyn Christine Spotts (Fisk), and Andrew Kennon Fisk, his great-grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Gonzalez and Alexander Christopher Marshall, and his niece Karolyn Edstrom.
