Joyce was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in 1937, in Alexandria, Minnesota. When the family moved to Englewood, in 1950, they joined Immanuel Lutheran Church. In 1971, after moving to Lakewood, she became a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church until her death. Joyce had a true acceptance that Jesus was her Savior and was very devout in her Christian beliefs. With this as her guiding light, she was always generous to those in need. Her favorite charities were those that helped children. The night before she passed, we told her that Jesus loved her, and without opening her eyes she said very clearly, “And I love Jesus”.
Joyce graduated from Englewood High School (Colorado) on June 2, 1955.
She married Raymond Meinecke on June 12, 1955. While waiting for their home on Sherman Street to be built, they rented a home from Ray’s Sister. They lived in their Sherman Street home until they divorced in 1967. In April of 1970 Joyce moved to her home on Yarrow Street, in Lakewood, CO where she lived until she passed.
On May 18, 1986, Joyce married Robert Kohler. Even after their divorce, Joyce continued to care for Robert until his death in December of 2018.
Joyce started her working career when she was a teenager. She worked at the Silver Saddle and Longhorn Hotels. As an adult, she enjoyed her job at KOA Radio Station as a bookkeeper, for many years. After KOA, she went to work at the Cherry Creek Inn and eventually retired from there.
Joyce enjoyed bowling and doing ceramics. She was active with the Artist Guild and enjoyed going to events with her long-time friend Glenn Martin. She was always working in her yard and on her various rental properties. Joyce was an avid Bronco fan and held season tickets for many years. When she was unable to go to the games, you could count on it being on the television.
Joyce loved her family. As she said many times, her Nieces and Nephews were some of the most important people in her life. She became Guardian to her Niece, Rhonda Lee, and cared for her from 1995-2025 when Rhonda passed away.
In August of 2024, Joyce’s health started to decline, and Hospice would come in to assist her. She also had several home care workers that helped with daily duties. Many of these people have commented on what a spiritual and loving person Joyce was, and how they were so thankful to have been able to help care for her. In addition to her other home care providers, we would like to thank her special friends, Jim, Eddie, and Rose, for the care that they provided, so that she could remain in her home until she passed on March 31, 2025.
Joyce is preceded in death by her Parents, Earl and Martha Nack, Brother, Lyle Nack, Sister, Janice (Nack) Winslow, and Niece, Rhonda (Nack) Lee.
Joyce is survived by her brother, Leslie Nack (Norma), Sisters, Janette Fairley, and Judy Graham (Gary). Nieces and Nephews, Michele Scheideman (Glenn), Kristie Kovach (Bob), Tarasia Johnson (James), Lori Campbell (Greg), Janelle Allen, Dale Nack (Susie), Jim Graham (Lauren), and Jason Graham. Additionally, 15 Great Nieces and Nephews as well as 16 Great, Great Nieces and Nephews.
We will miss Joyce’s sweet spirit and beautiful soul. We know that she is at home with Jesus. We hold you close in our hearts and there you will remain, to walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again.
