

Lorenz S Frank MD, “Doc” or “Scott,” died peacefully in his sleep on March 19, 2014 at age 97. He lived at Lincoln Meadows retirement community at 10001 S. Oswego St. in Parker, CO 80134. The cause of death was congestive heart failure.
On August 12, 1943, he married his sweetheart Ruth, a nursing student at St. Luke’s hospital, and they remained married for 52 years until her death in 1995.
Dr. Frank graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine on September 19, 1944. Military service played an important role in his life. He served in both WWII and the Korean War. From October 1, 1944 thru June 30, 1945, he was a medical intern at the U.S. Marine hospital in San Francisco, CA. While in the Navy, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and was stationed in Everett Washington. When the war ended, he was stationed in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
He was in the private practice of medicine in Denver, CO from 1946 until 1952. While practicing, he was employed part time with United Airlines, the Union Pacific Railroad, and the Denver Tramway Corporation to do physical examinations and emergencies.
From 1952-1954, during the Korean War, he served as a flight surgeon at Moffett Field in East Palo Alto, CA. From July 1955 thru June 1958, he took a residency to specialize in Internal Medicine at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Denver, CO.
From 1958 to 1983 he practiced internal medicine at the Vanden Bosch – De Roos Clinic, later called the Colorado Clinic, located at Evans and Downing streets in South Denver. He had admitting privileges at Porter and Swedish hospitals. While practicing from 1971 to 1983, he served as a part-time medical examiner for the F.A.A. From 1975 to 1982, he served as part-time disability examiner for Social Security.
In January, 1988, after retirement, Dr. Frank served as Health Advocacy Services Coordinator for Colorado with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). He was an avid golfer and fisherman, playing golf well into his mid-80s.
An explorer at heart, he loved to travel. From April 20 thru May 21, 1965, Dr. Frank, his wife Ruth, and their extended family visited the major cities of Europe. From July, 1978, until November, 1987, he and Ruth made ten trips to the beaches of Mexico, the Bahamas, Portugal, and the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Frank was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE), a social fraternity, and Nu Sigma Nu (NSN),a medical fraternity. He was a member of the Denver Medical Society, the Arapahoe County Medical Society, the Colorado Society for Internal Medicine, and the American Society for Internal Medicine.
In the U.S. Naval Reserve, he was a Lieutenant in the Medical Corps.
Survivors include his three children, William S. Frank of Denver, CO, Bradford L. Frank, MD of San Diego, CA and Sheryl A. Oermann, of Troy, TX. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Harriet Anne Post.
Baptised in 1917, he was a lifelong Missouri-Synod Lutheran. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Boulevard, Centennial, CO.
