Lisa Cheryl Sullivan, 67, of Colorado, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, after a long struggle with declining health. She faced her final years with the same quiet determination that defined her life.
Lisa was born on March 20, 1959, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver to Donald R. Obland and Susan P. Spatz. The oldest of four sisters, she grew up alongside Karen, Missy, and Julie, and spent her entire life in Colorado, a place she loved deeply and never had reason to leave.
She graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1977 and went on to study Interior Design at Arapahoe Community College, where she began developing an artistic eye and love for color that would stay with her for the rest of her life. On November 22, 1978, she married the love of her life, Ronald Sullivan. Together they built a home and raised two children, Timothy and Shanna.
Later in her career, Lisa worked as a paraprofessional educator in Jefferson County Schools, where she brought patience, warmth, and steady encouragement to the students she supported. It was work that suited her, she had a natural gift for meeting people where they were and encouraging them to be their best.
The role Lisa treasured most was “Nahni.” To her seven grandchildren, she was the heart of the family. Timothy and his wife Molly are parents to Toryn, Rorie, and Alani. Shanna and her husband Ryan Davis are parents to Addisyn, Ryder, Creyton, and Edyn. Lisa adored every one of them, and they knew it. A phone call from a grandchild could light up her whole day.
Lisa’s hands were rarely still. She was a proud member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter HO, Colorado. She was passionate about fiber arts, crocheting, sewing, and painting, and she was a devoted reader. Lisa loved watching sports and rooting for her Colorado teams. Most of all, she loved long conversations with her grandkids, listening, laughing, and taking in every detail of their lives. Even as mobility and health became difficult in her later years, she remained deeply present for the people she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Susan Obland.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ronald Sullivan; her children, Timothy Sullivan (Molly) and Shanna Davis (Ryan); her sisters, Karen, Missy, and Julie; and her seven beloved grandchildren, Toryn, Rorie, Alani, Addisyn, Ryder, Creyton, and Edyn.
A memorial service celebrating Lisa’s life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Joy Lutheran Church in Parker, Colorado. Any and all are welcome to attend.
