I heard about the bad news, and I don't know what to really  say that would bring comfort to you... 
But you do know that there is someone that has promised never to leave you alone.  He loves you and will be with you ...
My prayer is that he will take you as  his child and hold you next to his bosom and comfort all of you...

Mya was one of my best friends. She had a fiery temper that clashed heavily with mine when we would spend more than three days with each other. However, we always made up either that day or the day after by saying “I love you.” Our outfit choices always matched without us even planning it and our handwriting? The fact that people could barely distinguish between the two is just crazy. I can’t even explain how much this hurts me to know that she is gone, but I know that girl is sleeping peacefully. Anything I do in the future will be done in honor of Mya, I always told her what I wanted to do and she always encouraged me. One of my favorite memories with Mya was on my birthday last year, we had started a movie in our Bible class and not even 20 minutes into it, we all had fallen asleep on each other. It was like a chain reaction between her, Mcjovens, and I. I will always remember our long hugs together, our laughs, our car ride talks, school talks, her trying to get me to be more adventurous, and so much more. I love you with everything in me and I love your family as well. I will be here for all then Mya, I promise you.

My name is Lucy Werner.  I am a Preschool Teacher at Mile High Academy where I met Mya.  She was a student worker for me in my Preschool classroom.  My memory of Mya is that of a very sweet girl who loved the little ones.  She helped me keep my classroom organized and loved reading stories to the preschool students.  She also enjoyed sitting with the children and playing playdough and kinetic  sand with them. She once told me that she loved MHA and expressed that when she had kids , she would send them to MHA because it was a great school.  I didn't get to meet her mom or sister, but she always spoke of them to me.  Mya was such a good worker and I will miss her very much.

Mya was a brilliant beam of light. She always had a smile on her face. She was competitive and selfless and always had a spark in her. 
I knew Mya because I attended school with her last year. It was a difficult year for me; I was being bullied on top of things that were going on outside of school. Mya stood up for me when I was being bullied. I'll never forget that day. She made me feel like I was worth something. She took the time to listen to me and she gave the best hugs. I'd often be crying in the bathroom and she would just give me a hug and let me cry on her shoulder and she'd help me talk through my problems. She took my burden as her own. She'd stop what she was doing to make sure I was okay. She would watch over me. One day, I was sitting by myself because I had no one to hang out with and she invited me to play cards with her and some other people. I can't express how much that meant to me and still means to me. She'd often share her lunch with me too. 
Mya was so selfless and so loving. I will never forget her smile and joy and the impact she had on me. Mya was and is my role model for how I want to treat people and live my life. I'm so blessed to have known her for as long as I did. 
I'm praying that you have God's comfort and peace during this difficult time.

Dear Peña family,
I am so very saddened by our horrific loss of Mya. When I think of her I see her beautiful smile and remember her laughter and excitement expressively living in every moment. Whether she was biking down the mountain with Lexi, thumping down the stairs and running out the door after Bella, giggling over a game win, or helping clear the dining room table after a holiday feast, she did it with abundant energy and love. I have no doubt that everyone who had the blessing of really knowing Mya felt what I did when being in her presence…her huge, loving heart and beautiful, kind soul. May she rest in peace!
I cannot begin to feel the depth of your sorrow. Let your tears flow and may you grow to be at peace over your loss as you reflect on your experiences with your beloved, spirited Mya. My prayers and best wishes are with you all today and always. With much love, Darryl 😢

This family has cousins by the dozens!
Mya is my third cousin and fifth cousin to my grandchildren.  They had some good times together when they were little.  Lexi and Mya liked coming to our church in Copper Mountain, Colorado and enjoyed the Children’s Sabbath School class.  They always came in giving big hugs.  Mya was shy and Lexi was always bubbly.  One Saturday at church I asked if they would give special music for our children’s class program for the adults.  They both said yes, and sang with joy.  For sure Mya was not shy to sing.  This is one of the special memories I have of our dear Mya.

Mya was a close friend of our family . We loved her and will always love and remember her for the funny and loving person she was . She will be missed so greatly and will never ever be forgotten . 

Mya came into my life very unexpectedly. She started out as a friend of my brothers and grew into one of my closest friends after he had passed. I remember a couple of us had went to the Valley in Littleton and hiked the rocks. She was the one to get me to the top. I still remember the way the sun reflected off her golden brown skin and her brown eyes. It was one of the happiest moments we had together. ❤️ 

I knew Mya only from afar but even then her smile was contagious.   I have never seen a mama more proud of the beautiful children she created.  The love between you all was tangible.  My thoughts and love are with you Audra and Lexi and all those that loved and lost Mya. 

I will never forget the day i met Mya she was my first friend in high school. First day of freshman year we walked into spanish and we sat right next to eachother. I was very quiet but Mya just wasn’t having it with me. She was so happy and was like so what’s your name and i told her. Later we walked into science and i didn’t know anyone but her and she called me over. through out the years mya has become my best friend she’s done so much and been there for me we would always back eachother up even when it was with teachers because in all honesty we probably annoyed them so much. But i would get yelled at a million times for her. Those are some of our best memories. i love you so much Mya,Audra,and Lexi. Thank you guys for being there always. 

Mya and I had so many great memories we were in cheer together we hung out all the time and she was one of my best friends but one of the memories that stands out in my mind was we were driving by Arapahoe high school and Mya stuck her head out of the window and started yelling at all the Arapahoe kids and not even 2 minutes later a cop comes behind us and pulls us over and I was like Mya we are getting pulled over and she goes just fake cry and you will get out of it and I was like I can’t fake cry if I’m already real crying and she said to me then your perfect and we laughed she was such an amazing person I love you mya you will always be in my heart💛

Rest In Peace sweet young lady.  You are all in our prayers at the Conejos County Sheriff’s Office.  Any friend or family of Richard Pena is friends and family of mine.  Please look down on us from time to time and smile on us.

The first day I met Mya was at Cheer Try Outs. She was amazing and very confident.  I loved cheering with her because she would never let you give up. She always pushed her self and others to try again and try harder. Her smile was contagious and when everybody would get frustrated at cheer including her she was able to shake it off and get everybody back into a good mood again.  She will be missed❤️ RIP Mya💛 

Mya was one of my best friends my senior year of high school at MHA. I remember her always being so silly and so much fun to be around. We shared many great memories together. Most of the time it was Mya, Emily and I running around the high school being goofy. One of my favorite memories with this sweet girl was the time when her and I went to her home to hang out and we took a 3 hour nap on her bed accidentally, we didn't realize how tired we both were after school that day. When we woke up we made food in the kitchen while wearing eachothers hoodies! I will never forget her always asking me “can I wear your hoodie? You can wear mine too!” So we were always switching hoodies. She was such a loving person, always had something nice to say and always complementing someone on something. Another memory I’ll always cherish was when I was graduating. She was crying because she was so proud of me. I will never forget that! I will miss her so much, her goofy personality and her loving heart. She will never be forgotten. 

Mya was a ray of sunshine, wherever she went. She was full of laughter, smiles and love. She was always willing to be there for others. She will be in remembered with love. May her family find peace in the Resurrection Morn. 

Mya was only quite little when we met her, but we had so much fun playing games with her and Lexi when we stayed at her beloved Lolli's house. Our memories are of her beautiful smile, competitive nature and most of all, the deep love her family has for her and each other.

I first met Mya when I was a junior during her freshman year at Littleton. We instantly became great friends, constantly talked and spent time together. She always knew how to make me smile and bright up a room. Mya could walk into any room she chose and would know and love multiple people or at the very least, leave with two new friends who she would already love. Mya was a little firecracker and I absolutely loved her. One time we took our friends car to go get lunch and decided to take the back way. Mya swore she knew where to go and ultimately lost us. Then, while laughing so hard she wheezed, blamed me and said I was gonna make her late to class. Mya was always the friend that no matter what happened, I knew I could turn to her and she’d be there for me. Whether it was happy, confusing, or sad. Mya, her radiant beautiful personality and smile is going to be greatly missed by everyone who’s life she touched. I will never forget what a wonderful and true person she was. I love you so much Mya Peña. Rest in peace, Beautiful. 

Mya was  my absolute favorite cousin, always my favorite hello and hardest goodbye. We would cry every time we had to leave each other in hopes we would get to stay longer together. She was my best friend, when she would come we would do all sorts of things. We would ride the horse, four wheelers, and any other thing we could find to do. I miss her more than ever.. my best friend is gone❤️

My dear friend Audra & Lexi , Family your thoughts and prayers will always be with me. A beautiful Soul Mya will never be forgotten. She brighten a room with her pretty smile. She was a kind young lady to me. Will treasure the moments we had at the pool with laughter love you Mya. 😊

Mya is my cousin and I will always remember when we were in Capulin for a Fourth of July celebration.  We had gone four wheeling. She and Audra had an accident and after going to the hospital to make sure she was alright she wanted to go out four wheeling again. It makes me smile to think of how unfazed she was. She’ll always be in my heart. Love you family.💔

Mya was a beautiful, amazing,smart young lady❤️ She had a smile that would light up a room.  She loved her mom and sister and grandparents very much.   She will be deeply missed by so many.. Rest in heaven beautiful angel ❤️

I had the pleasure of watching Mya and her big sister Lexi when they were young. Mya would laugh and Chase after her big sister and my grandson Luke. They would build tents in the house to sleep in and bake cookies with me. A beautiful girl inside and out. She loved her Mom and sister so. She will be missed.
