Born in Pueblo, Colorado, Ray was the beloved son of Iva and Albert Hendren. He grew up with one brother and three sisters. From a young age, Ray had a passion for hot rods and cars, a love that stayed with him always.
After graduating high school, Ray attended college for a year before joining the United States Air Force, proudly serving as a lineman for four years. In 1965, during a lunch break at McDonald's where Ray was working, fate brought Jane into his life. Their connection was instant, and they married later that year on November 1st. Together, they built a life filled with love, raising four children: Penny, Karen, Jill, and Dan.
Ray was a hardworking man, dedicating many years to a career in construction. He was known for his strong work ethic, but also for his deep love for the outdoors. Ray and his family enjoyed countless camping trips across the country and boating adventures that brought them even closer together. He and Jane also cherished traveling to beautiful destinations like the Bahamas, Mexico, and Hawaii.
A proud member of the Denver Masonic Lodge, Ray lived a life grounded in community and tradition. He loved tinkering and building, always working on something with his hands. In retirement, Ray discovered a new passion: flowers. He took great joy in caring for them, treating each bloom with patience and affection. He and Jane also shared a love for shopping—often exploring just for the fun of it.
Ray had a remarkable gift for conversation. He could talk with anyone about anything, and he often did—sometimes for hours. His warmth, curiosity, and genuine interest in others will be remembered by all who knew him.
Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories. He will be deeply missed by his wife Jane, their children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
