I am so incredibly sorry to hear about Uncle Ray's passing. I remember him fondly, he would always ask me if he was his favorite uncle and my answer was always 'yes'. I know he's cracking jokes with the Spirit in the Sky. Aunt Nancy, Alex, and Garrick - you are in my thoughts everyday and I hope to see you all sometime soon. Be sure to let me know if you ever find yourself in Seattle, I would love to reconnect. Love you all, Erica.

When I viewed Raymond's picture, I felt so shocked by the resemblance to his Uncle John Wilson and the whole Wilson family.  I loved Raymond from the first time I looked at him as an infant and I still do. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Nancy and his family.  Your loving aunt, Helen Wilson Buescher.

The Northrup Family and Ray were part of growing up on South Lincoln Street. We remember Ray in the back yard with our dad fixing cars, sitting on the porch talking to our mom, or working at Frank's Pizza. He was part of the family. Being the prankster that he was, we never quite trusted him--he and Rod were always up to something involving tall tales, ice cubes or a way to get us to kiss little brother Jerry. Thank you, Ray, for being a brother and friend.

FATHER (noun): A daughter's first love, a son's first hero.

Nancy, I have known you for so long I feel that through you I have come to know your family.  My heart and prayers are with you all of you.

Nancy, Alex and Garrick- my heart, my thoughts and my prayers go to you for your loss. I loved to hear those stories about how Ray could talk with anyone and everyone, how he loved to get a cup of coffee at any coffee shop, and the pizza shop he worked at. I always heard the love in all the stories and I was fortunate that I was able to meet the man behind those great stories. I am praying for peace and comfort while you go through this hard time. Please know that you are loved by your friends and family.

Always enjoyed our trips to Nancy and Ray's home in the summer.  I enjoyed being able to do it as a child and continue the tradition by later taking my wife and child to visit Nancy and Ray.  I am glad I was able to share that experience with my family and the Northrup's.  We may of lost a good man, but heaven gained one hell of a storyteller.

I remember Ray from Englewood high School where we both  were in the same graduating Class of 1969. Good year as I know Ray would agree.

I remember messing around in the hallway's routinely and we became good friends. I shared experiences with Ray and his family whom I became to Love dearly for several years.

Ray and I shared a common bond of both being a twin. I remember the many times he would pull a prank on my sister and  I of course, switching places with his twin brother Rod, because we could not tell them apart. They took advantage of this numerous times.

I have many fond memories of Ray, two of which would be Class Reunion's and Frank's Pizza.  So Ray until we meet again, save a slice of pizza for me.

Growing up with the Northrup Family living just down the street brings me so many happy memories.  I feel so blessed to have known Ray and feel even more blessed that his beautiful daughter has always been such a bright spot in my world.  My thoughts and prayers and unconditional love go out to Nancy, Alex and Garrick and all others that loved Ray for the man he was.  I pray for peace and comfort and the reassurance that they will all need during this difficult time. There are so many fond memories of summers we spent so excited that we were going to get to stay at Uncle Ray and Aunt Nancy's house. Ray always had so many stories for us, I never knew if we were going to have time to hear them all! I'll never forget Ray taking us fishing for the first time. Which brings me to a very wise thing he told us, not only for life, but especially fishing. We were sitting on the porch as kids, and he was telling us an intense story about a fishing trip he and Garrick took. Garrick replies "Dad, that's not how it happened." And Ray replied with a smile, "kids, sometimes you have to embellish a little to make the story better". 
I love you all and hope that you can all comfort eachother in the following time; especially through all the wonderful memories of Uncle Ray.

Rod Bockenfeld (Watkins, CO)

Brother Ray.  Where does one start to describe this man. He was a philosopher, a practical jokester, homebuilder and one intense man.  

His and his twin brother's (Rod) practical jokes on people and each other were legendary.  A female friend had a powder blue Volkswagen bug that he filled completely with Popped Polystyrene Bean Bag Filler, all the way to the top of her windows. And the fun and pranks went on and on. 

One time he started a water gun fight with me then as I turned around to shoot him back he stepped out of the doorway just as dad stepped into the doorway so I shot Dad with a water gun instead. Landing me in some serious trouble with Dad.

He built the house in Littleton I swear it is the most well built house in that area if not all of Colorado.  It was his labor of love and his castle for his awesome family.  He was proud of his accomplishment as he should have been. 

He could chat and philosophize over a cup of coffee better than anyone I know.  I would often walk away from one of these many sessions with my head spinning with too much caffeine, knowledge and perspective. 

Ray. May you rest in peace knowing your youngest brother loved you and loves your beautiful family.

To the love of my life, my heart hurts with sadness and I wish I could have given you one last kiss and hug.  I will miss your strong arms that made me feel safe and loved.  Our life together and two wonderful children to carry on our legacy.  You gave me a card about love when we got married and it said the following:  "There is no difficulty that enough  love wil not conquer; no disease that enough love will not heal; no door that enough love will not open;  no gulf that enough love will not bridge; no wall that enough love will not throw down; no sin that enough love will not redeem.  It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble;  how hopeless the outlook; how muddled the tangile; how great the mistake.  A sufficient realization of love will disolve it all...if only you could love enough you would be the happiest and most powerful being in the world." Ray was a stellar fisherman and I knew of none better.  I treasured our journeys together in the mountains of Colorado.  With Ray you never walked away fish less, but more importantly were the many pranks that were played at each other's expense.  Ray will not be alone in heaven, his dad is there to greet him and I know the fishing gear will somewhere close by.  Until I join you, save some fish me me.  Your loving twin.

For my Uncle who will always have a place in my memories and heart. Even though we've been strangers for my adult life, you have my childhood. And thanks for the picture when you and I where comparing bellies, when I was pregnant with Zack. I still have the picture, and will always laugh and smile. My most funny and great memory of my uncle is the day of my wedding to Robert, I was 8 months pregnant with Zack. He took a picture with me sticking out his belly to make it almost as big as I was! Lol! Plus he and my other uncle's always played pranks on my boyfriends, just to see if they could handle the Northrup Clan. Even though I have not heard or seen my uncle, he always has a place in my memories, and heart. Plus I still have that picture! Love always your niece Jenny.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Nancy, Alex, Garrick, Josh, Mimi, Ella and Anders. Ray - we wont forget your  kindness to open up your home for summer vacation visits from our family; your caring conversations over  a cup of coffee and a "gab" session; your enthusiasm to introduce fishing in the Rocky Mountains to the Duncan kids; and your STORIES that always had us on the edge of our seats! We love you and will miss you dearly.

I have fond memories of my Uncle Ray.  He and his twin brother would play jokes on my brother and I when we were kids.  Will always remember him for teaching me the square root of 64.
