
Robert Wayne Hoy, entered Heaven’s gate on Monday, September 22, 2014. He was the son of Waldo and Grace Hoy of Lusk, WY and was born on April 5, 1932. He was the tenth of eleven children. He lived on a Hereford ranch outside the city of Lusk and attended a one-room school house through 8th grade and then attended Lusk High School. He graduated in 1950. Wayne and all his brothers played football while in school. His older brother, Lester, was killed in WWII.
He enlisted in the Air Force and attended school at Lowry AFB. While there, he met Donna Henderson and they were married on September 11, 1954 at Trinity Baptist Church in Denver, CO. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. After leaving his military service, he was employed for almost 38 years with Continental Airlines as a mechanic and retired in 1994. He loved to hunt, hike, go camping, play softball, and ski. One of his many hobbies was bee keeping.
Forty years ago, Wayne moved the family to Parker, CO to a home he helped build on a ten acre site. He was active in various churches, most recently Grace Chapel. While there, he encouraged men to attend a weekly Bible study. He had been a deacon and leader of Brigade Boys at Northwest Baptist Church. He was also a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Parker, CO.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Donna Hoy, four children, David (Debbie) Hoy of Reston, VA, Lucinda (John) Wood of Elbert, CO, Vicki (Nephtali) Matta of El Paso, TX, and Brian of Great Falls, MT. He also had 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He has two brothers, Richard (Bev) of Lusk, WY and Dale (Marian) of Scottsbluff, NE and a brother-in-law Lloyd Darnall of Gillette, WY.
Graveside services for the family will be Friday, September 26 followed by a memorial services at Grace Chapel 8505 S. Valley Hwy, Englewood, CO at 11:00 followed by a reception at the church.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to be given to Denver Seminary, 6399 South Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, CO 80120 in Wayne’s memory.
