To all of my friends and family. It is with a heavy heart, a lot of tears and sadness that on Friday February 14, 2014 The Good Lord above had another angel come home to be with him.Doug's father Robert Roy Marx passed away. We as the family decided to wait to tell your youngest son Michael, for he was in Las Vegas for a soccer tournament. Both his Grandmother and Grandfather wanted it that way. He will have a viewing on Thursday February 20th from 4 to 6pm at Chapel Hill . It is 6601 South Colorado Blvd in Centennial. On Friday February 21 from 10:00 am to 1:00pm or so will be Dad's Memorial service at Chapel Hill. He had a wonderful 80 years with us. He leaves behind his wife Mary of 60 years of marriage. A daughter Connie Carlson and her husband Dan. A son Jerry and his wife Lianne and a son Doug and his wife Shannon. 12 grandchildren and 7 great grand children. He was a proud man of his service to his country, his family and for all that he stood for. He will greatly be missed, he has though left a huge legacy and it is a little smaller. He will be watching all of us, making all of us laugh and there will be tears shed. Please take a moment and tell your family , friends and all you love, how much they mean to you. As I get older I see the days getting shorter to be with the ones we love and treasure so.It will be one less cheerleader on the side line in life and in the sports world. THANK YOU DAD FOR ALL YOU DID, SHARED AND LOVED,WE MISS YOU MORE THEN YOU EVER KNEW. R.I.P.

Is Mr. Marx from Saint Louis?  I once knew a Bob Marx from there.  He attended 
St Louis U, High school.  If I am correct he graduated in 1950.  If he is or isn't he is in my prayers.

Bob it was such a pleasure to have known you.  Each time we came over from England to see our extended family, you and Mary always made us very welcome.  You appeared to us as a proud, gentle and kind man.  We always felt part of your family.  We shall both miss you and it won't be the same without you, we wish we had known you longer.

Rest In Peace Bob.

I'll miss you more than you can know, Bob. Of the times we spent together, there are several things that I'll always remember: 

Fishing trips to Arkansas River in Salida, the rivers and lakes in Steamboat Springs, and the Poudre River in Fort Collins. We always had a great time - and we even caught fish most of the time.

Your amazing memory. You *never* forgot a name! Or anything, actually. Names, events, dates, etc. I worked with you as your assistant at  Transcontinental Auto parts for a couple of years. Your ability to remember the part numbers for any type of four wheel drive vehicle was unbelievable and you were renowned thoughout the auto parts world for that.

Your patience (and style!) teaching me car repairs. Your guidance gave me the confidence to even rebuild an automatic transmission on our '62 Ford Falcon. I'll cherish those times forever.

THE GREATEST CHRISTMAS GIFT EVER! About a month before Christmas many years ago, you and I were wrestling around and I accidentally came down hard on your big toe. Well, that toe turned purple and the nail eventually fell off. A month or so later we were all sitting in your living room opening Christmas presents, and you presented me with a very nicely wrapped box with your toenail in it. I'll never forget that, partly because of the surprise I had when I opened it, but also because it's a great example of your sense of humor. I'll *really* miss that sense of humor, Bob. 

As I said, you can't know how much I'll miss you and love you, Bob.

To the most amazing man I shared 49 years of my life with.
You taught me everything in life and shaped me into the person I am today.
I have always been proud of you Dad.
You are the most amazing man I have ever known.

Dad -- Dan had wanted to share to the gathering some of his memories of you. He didn't get over to the microphone to do so.
 As he said several times to me, as we spoke of you and cried .... "There is a BIG hole" without you.
  A flood of memories have filled our minds and hearts. Fishing trips, drives to the mountains, picnics in the mountains, race car years, Dan & you working together, You teaching Dan how to work on cars, years of Mom & You coming to the grandkids' games .... even out of state and at their college, for those who attended college.
  So much more, too much to mention.  And the great-grandkids ... going to Veteran's Day at their school, doing things with them .... mountain trips, birthdays, holidays, weddings, more.
  For Dad (& Mom)Family IS their "hobby".  Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, extended family, friends (because they "are family").
  You taught us Unconditional love, genuine love. You taught us all, many things.
  I have especially had a flood of memories from when, since I was the firstborn, I was also the "only child" for about 3-1/2 years.  A time when Daddy enjoyed "showing me off".
  We danced together, and sang.  One of our favorites which was popular during these "only child" years, was Elvis Presley's "Wooden Heart".  It played often, over the years. If we were together, we sang it together, even when I was an adult.  (I still play if often).  It's always been special to me, because it started off a song my Daddy sang to me.  It's a great little song.
  Some of the songs lyrics:  "Can't you see?  I love you!  Please don't break my heart in two.  That's not hard to do, 'cause I don't have a wooden heart..... And if you say goodbye then I know that I would cry ..... 'Cause I'm not made of wood & I don't have a wooden heart."
  Daddy, I love You!  And my heart is very broken without you.  You have said goodbye -- & now I cry, because ...  I'm not made of wood & I don't have a wooden heart!  Love You!

Just watched the slide show and sure brought back some memories of way back when.  I'm sure you are relieved to get this day over with.  I know Bob will be missed by all of you but have faith to get through the following days.

Hi Marx Family, it was always a pleasure to see Bob and Mary at Doug's soccer games.  It spoke volumes of them as parents and their love and support of their children.  They were our fans on those days and we will forever be fans of theirs for their kindness and support.  You are all in our thoughts and in our Prayers! I am sadden by this news but will always remember Bob for all the Sunday soccer games that he made and that he was always quick with a smile and a compliment.   An admirable patriarch of a family man he was , with grace.

Aunt Mary & family, Uncle Bobby will always have a special place in the 
hearts of our family.  He spent a lot of time at our house when we were
growing up helping my Mother( his sister Marion) take care of us. Coming 
from a family of 13 and being the youngest boy, he learned a lot about 
family values and love.  Grandpa and Grandma Marx would have been 
married 50 years in August,. the year she passed away,  Doug was baby then.
So, like the song says " he comes from a long line of love."  The "older cousins" grew up with their Uncle Bobby, so he was special to us. We all have lots of fond memories of him.  He served his country proudly, being a Korea Veteran.  We always enjoyed the visits with his family when you came
to Wisconsin.  What a Blessed Family  Reunion it must have been 
when he went home to his Savior in Heaven.  Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.  Judy Myers ( niece & Cousin)

Wish i would have and could have spent more time with him but my memories are still there and his love always in my heart. I miss you and love you. May the angels keep you company and god keep you forever happy and no longer in pain.

Having just experienced this personally very recently, my heart and prayers go to the entire family as well as beloved friends at this time.   It's the support from them that gives us the strength and comfort to endure and the faith that we will all be together again someday.   Always remembered, never forgotten!   Much love,

I was blessed to have known and loved you Dad. Thank you for all of your love, wisdom,help and laughter. I remember you taking me to the hospital to have Robbie.  Being there when I almost delivered Jay on Valentines day and watching those two when I had Michael. Going to the movies and you letting me drive all the way from Dubois Wyoming to home.
