

Ruth was born September 17, 1930 in Phil Campbell Alabama to Robert and Allie McClung, the last of four children. She grew up on her parent’s dairy farm. She attended Florence State Teachers College, and began teaching English in Cold Springs, Georgia.
There she met Harold Alford while they both lived in the boarding house that catered to teachers. Harold taught vocational arts. They married in June of 1954 and moved to Alabama, where Harold finished his masters degree in Entomology.
Their life together took them to Nebraska, North Carolina, and to the Washington DC area for 13 years. Harold worked for the federal Department of Agriculture. Ruth was a homemaker. They had three sons: Joel, Dan and Mark. In 1974 the family moved to Sacramento, California. After Harold’s retirement in 1992 they traveled extensively, visiting Hawaii many times, seeings almost every state, parts of Europe, and a little bit of Africa. Ruth was very active in her church and community.
They came to Colorado in 2004, continuing to travel and enjoy life.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Harold. She is survived by her sons Joel (Sheryl), Dan (Janet), and Mark (Diana), as well as her grandchildren James, Sarah, Anna, Jackie; and great grandchildren Jameson, Regis Joel, Waylon and Oliver.
She was a wonderful wife and mother.
