I knew Sen from 5th grade—9th grade (2011-2016). He always made me laugh so hard to the point where my face would hurt from smiling so much. Every single day, he never failed to make me smile. Everyday, when he walked into our algebra class, he tossed a piece of gum on my desk. And everyday, I would lend him the same blue pen and he would give it back at the end of class. I remember giving him a folder so that he would stop losing his homework all the time. I think about him to this day, he was truly one of those people I never got sick of spending time with. I miss his contagious laughter and the endless joy he brought to every room he entered. Rest in peace, Sen.

I miss you Sen. I can't believe it has been a year. 

You are a bright star in my life. A point of light  in the night sky. I will miss you. Love Papa

I miss your brilliant smile, beautiful curly hair, slender fingers, and long lashes.

I miss your sense of humor and the flash in your eyes when you found something funny.

I miss hugging you, telling you that I love you (which I still do and will continue to do everyday), and hearing you say "I love you too, auntie".

Eulogy

•It is truly amazing at the number of friends and family that have come to remember and honor Sen's life.  Sen was not alone; Sen was loved despite the tragedy of his death.  

•Given the number of people in this room right now Sen  was loved so much more than he realized.

•From reading some of the letters and cards his fellow students wrote to his parent's I was totally amazed at how many of his fellow students who did not even know Sen were affected by the grief and emotion their fellow students were experiencing.

•I think that all of us were shocked by his death and totally surprised since it was so unlike the Sen we all knew and loved.

•There is no getting around the grief and the pain we have been experiencing but I am not and I hope the rest of us here today are not here to continue to experience this pain but to move into the healing that I know Sen would want to happen. All of our hearts have been shattered by this but now is the time for the mending and healing to start.

•Now is the time for each of us to use his death to make a difference in this world in whatever way we can. 

•What I read repeatedly in the letters from his classmates was that Sen had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh that would make them laugh 

•That when he saw that some one was down he was able to make them laugh.

•What his schoolmates saw at school was also how he lived his life at home.  Sen's relationship with his mother was exceptionally strong. He was a very loving, sensitive and caring son. He would tell his mother every day that he loved her and would text her through out the day, regardless of how busy he was he would check in with her. He would let her know about his day and find out what her day was like.  They both looked forward to seeing each other at the end of their day

•I know that Sen never said good-bye without also saying,  I love you to those of use who had the privilege of experiencing his love. This is were the healing starts.

•As one of his fellow students said We as students and friends of Sen will surround each other with love and support

•I remember one time when he was 2 or 3 years old I was getting Sen to brush his teeth before he went to bed and after he had a snack of Oreo cookies.  As he went to spit out the toothpaste the debris from the cookie was mixed in with the toothpaste and he said Papa I have to stop eating so much dirt.

•As a grandparent I knew Sen based on that relationship and each of us have our own special relationship with him,  as his mother and his father, as one of his other grandparents, as a nephew, as a cousin  and as a friend, which will define our memories of him.

•It is my memories of Sen that will allow me to do what another fellow student wrote,  Sen will always live in our hearts.  These memories of Sen live in my heart. 

•I hope that your memories of Sen will continue to live in your hearts.

•Sen loved going to the Black Rock desert in Nevada with his Dad and Grandpa Cooper.

•One of the highlights of those trips was being able to light fireworks. So when you see fireworks, Remember Sen 

•Sen loved watching Shikamura Nara in Naruto with his mother, brother and friends.

•When you watch Naruto Remember Sen.

•Sen loved Costumes and his baseball cap pins.

•On Halloween Remember Sen.

•When you see some one wearing a baseball cap with pins Remember Sen

•He also loved playing video games and going camping with his dad and friends. 

•So when you are playing a video game Remember Sen

•When you go camping or are experiencing the beauty of nature Remember Sen.

•He loved seeing others smile and laugh.

•When you see some one laughing or smiling. Remember Sen

•He and his Dad loved music

•When you see some one enjoying their music. Remember Sen.

•He loved to skate board.

•When you see a skateboarder, Remember Sen.

•He liked Del Taco 

•So when you go to a Del Taco or drive by one, Remember Sen.

•He loved dogs and picked out our dog from the Dumb Friends league. 

•When you see some one walking their dog or playing with their dog. Remember Sen.

•He loved watching the Walking Dead.

•When you watch the Walking Dead, Remember Sen

•Sen was ready for the Zombie Apocalypse

•When the Zombie Apocalypse comes, Remember Sen

•Sen loved to look at the stars

•When you look at the night sky tonight, Remember Sen

•Sen loved baking cookies with his Nana

•When you eat a cookie Remember Sen

•A couple of Sen's favorite quotes by Shikamura is Laziness is the mother of all bad habits, but ultimately she is a mother and we should respect her; Even a little power could change the future of the world. And What a drag and some times I wish I was just a cloud floating along.

•When you see a floating cloud remember Sen

•Joy, Sen's mother said, He is my leaf, my shinobi and he can now float with any cloud in any other dimension or plane of existence that he desires.

•I hope that we all will leave this Memorial Service today with the commitment to live our lives with compassion, understanding and love for our selves and for our families and friends.

Remember what we keep in memory is ours unchanged forever.
