Shirley grew up in Englewood and graduated from Englewood high school. In high school she was a majorette. She did summer work at a lodge in Rocky Mountain National Park, and attended Colorado State University (CSU) for a Freshman year. She met her husband when he was doing construction work on her sister’s home. After marriage, they lived in Fort Collins until husband, Don, graduated from CSU. Then after graduation they moved to Pennsylvania for employment. A couple years later the employment moved them to Kansas City, Mo, where they resided in Overland Park, Kansas. The family then came back to Colorado with a new employment opportunity.
She is survived by husband Donald and children, Dale, Robert, Linda (Richard), Kevin (Julia), James (Michele) and Michelle (Bruce) Burch, along with 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Shirley was active in a garden club, Englewood Historical society, PEO, Eastern Star, and Cub Scouts.
Shirley did secretarial work with auto dealer, furniture store and pipe supply company.
The family took most vacations doing tent camping in many National Parks and Monuments.
She was a lover of wildlife, especially birds.
