Sylvia Jean Venhuisen, passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 95. Sylvia was born April 22, 1930 in Thomson, Illinois, the daughter of George and Henrietta Dykstra. She attended Thomson schools graduating from York Community High School in 1948. After attending business college she was employed in the offices of Pillsbury Mill (Clinton, IA) Continental Oil and Standard Oil Company (Denver, CO). On July 3, 1953 she married William (Bill) Venhuisen. The would celebrate 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2008.
Sylvia dearly loved her family, she enjoyed reading, music, crafts and enjoying the Colorado mountains. As well as many trips taken with her husband.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Meinert of Englewood, CO and her son Larry (Betty) of Belvedere, IL, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Eloise Voss and Gladys Larson, and a son in-law John Meinert.
