I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your lovely wife, Verna.  I was watching channel 9 news tonight and saw you talking about you driving your antique car in the Broncos parade along with your wife, Verna.  I met you both years ago at estate sales in the Denver area.  I would run into you on a regular basis for many years and you would tell me "car" stories.  I always enjoyed those conversations.  Verna was always busy looking for treasures to take home.   I hadn't seen you guys for a few years and was wondering if you were okay.  It was fun to see you on the news tonight driving your car, however, sad to hear of Verna's passing.  She was a sweetheart.  God bless.

An old estate sale friend   

When I just a little girl growing up across the street from Mel and Verna, she used to let me come over all the time and do her hair, make-up and accessories.  I made you look so beautiful...right?  Thank you Verna, for letting me be your hair and make-up artist.  I will miss seeing you when I stop over to see my parents.

My fondest memories of Aunt Verna include her belly dancing on the porch and Uncle Milton attempting to belly dance with her.  We laughed until our sides hurt.  Aunt Verna also enjoyed suggesting to everyone to ask Milton why he got kicked out of the Senior Center pool!  She would giggle and say "They seem to frown on him asking the ladies if they bite their bubbles"

Rest in peace Aunt Verna!  You will be missed by some many who loved you dearly.

My memories of Aunt Verna Lee start when I served as the flower girl at her wedding. I remember thinking then that she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I remember that she was a very graceful swimmer. She loved her cats and they all had names. She cooed over them when they came to her. She was at many family holiday meals always full of funny stories. She will be missed.


Will always remember Uncle Milton and Verna showing up in the T-Bird and looking so dashing.  The candy at christmas was so good, my favorite were the cherry mashes.  Her and Milton were such cards with all the "poot & splatter" and fart jokes.  Makes me laught still.  What a couple!!!  I was the ring bearer at their wedding, so glad I have that connection.  Uncle Milton giving her a hard time when I visited, she would say"Oh Milton"!!!  Many fond memories, Rest In Peace Aunt Vern Lee.

The love she had for Uncle Milton was incomparable, and to me she was like another grandmother. I learned everything I will ever need to know about religion, US History, and belly dancing from her, and I will miss her dearly. Rest easy, Aunt Verna. 

My Aunt Verna....feisty, glamorous, and so much larger in life than her tiny stature!  I always think of as one of my “3 Vs”— Velva, Verla, Verna —oh, and I’ll never forget how she giggled when I thought we should add “Velveeta” to the list.  She loved my Uncle Milton fiercely and for that I will always be grateful.  How lucky we were to know her love and joy!  Rest gently dear Aunt!

I have so many memories I struggle to think of my favorite. I always got excited to see your red Thunderbird pull up to our house when I was a child. I always enjoyed the delicious candy you made and usually ate more than my share. I took pride watching you dance at the senior facility knowing your talent brought joy to so many. I always enjoyed our visits on your back porch. I will miss you and will cherish my many memories.  Love you Aunt Verna.
