90, of Denver, CO, peacefully passed away July 16th at home with her family gathered around her.
Born near Pueblo CO, December 17th, 1919 to Raymond and Beatrice Price, she joined 3 sisters and 1 brother, June, Stella, Winifred, and Raymond. After her birth 2 more siblings followed, Leatrice and Reily to complete the Price family. Her family moved to Gardner, CO where she spent her childhood. She graduated from high school in Walsenberg at the age of 17. Moving to Trinidad, she lived with her sister Tiny and her husband, and went to beauty school.
This began her dream of owning a beauty shop. She would lie awake at night planning her first shop. At the age of 21 with the help and generosity of a client she opened her first shop, Beau Monde. This dream shop was the beginning of a 50 year career in the hairstyling business.
After many years she moved to Denver in 1946 and worked in a shop owned by Floyd Weiss. There she met Fred Weiss and they married in 1949. They worked together and opened two beauty shops in Denver, one in Cherry Creek and one on Colorado Blvd, called Fred Lee’s. During these years they started their family with the adoption of Dan Lee in 1952, Holly Dee in 1956, and much to her surprise and delight she became pregnant and David Paul and Virginia Joy added to the family in 1958 and 1960.
Busy years followed as she lovingly raised her children and worked and ran a business with Fred Lee. Her life was busy and full of fun and the people she loved.
In her later retirement years she still enjoyed life to the fullest as she married a long time dear friend Beyer Pedersen and she had a brand new stock of family to enjoy and love. At about the age of 80 she decided that she was a bit bored and started her last job at Echo Star. There she became Grandma to a whole new group of people that she loved!
Virginia’s hobby was loving and caring for anyone she ever met. She had the wonderful gift of hospitality. Her home was the center of any event, there was always a spare room for someone who needed a place to live. She filled the world with beautiful things, tangible and intangible. She had the largest heart in the world and would give anything she had to help someone else.
She is survived in death by her children Holly Kaiser, Derk Juhl, David Weiss, Jinny Saffer, Margi Myers, and Brad Pedersen, dear friends Marilyn and Melvin Juhl, two sisters “Tiny” and Leatrice, grandchildren – Jami, Ashley, Meghan, Jordan, Katey, Jessi, Danielle, Kyle, and Kim, one very GREAT- grandson – Gavin, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Lifesource Adventist Fellowship, formerly Denver First Seventh Day Adventist church on August 20th at 2pm, located at 6200 W Hampden Ave., Denver CO 80227, with a reception to follow.
