Dr. Wayne L. Harvey

Dr. Wayne L. Harvey passed away December 20, 2016 at the Morningstar Assisted Living Home in Parker, Colorado at the age of 84 after a long illness. Wayne was born in Neodesha, KS on December 30, 1931 to Fred and Elsie (Sannes) Harvey. He attended school at North Lawn Grade School and Neodesha High School, graduating in the class of 1949. He then attended the University of Kansas and after graduation in 1953, entered the School of Dentistry at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. After graduating in 1957, he was offered a teaching position at the Dental School where he spent the next 19 years as well as operating a private dental practice in Kansas City. Wayne and his family moved to Denver, CO in 1976 where Dr. Harvey joined the faculty of the University of Colorado Dental School. While on the faculty, he served as the chairman of both the Department of Restorative Dentistry and the Division of Removable Prosthodontics, as well as the Director of Alumni Relations and Development for the school. Dr. Harvey retired in 1998.

Wayne met Beverly Joan Stokes in Kansas City while attending dental school. They were married in 1958 in Joplin, MO. They have 2 sons (Tim and Eric) and celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in July 2016.

Dr. Harvey served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy as a reservist from 1957 to 1966. He was a lifelong car enthusiast and restored many vintage sports cars with his brother Wendell and sons Tim and Eric. Wayne loved music and was self-taught. He was able to play many instruments by ear.

Dr. Harvey is survived by his wife Beverly Joan of Parker, CO, son Tim and wife Tracy and 4 grandchildren of Colorado Springs, CO and son Eric and wife Julie and 2 grandchildren of Centennial, CO. His brother Wendell Harvey of Overland Park, KS and his sister Willa (Harvey) Williams of Joplin, MO. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Elsie (Sannes) Harvey of Neodesha, KS, sister Virginia (Harvey) Neer of Joplin, MO, sister Mary Lou Harvey of Neodesha, KS, and brother Larry Joe Harvey of Ponca City, OK.

Memorial Service to be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
