Kirk was born on October 29th, 1958 in Middletown, Connecticut to the late Kenneth and Frances Schoell. He was raised in East Hampton and Portland Connecticut, but spent most of his life in East Haddam. Kirk was a devoted husband to his wife of 19 years, Rozanne Schoell, and a loving father to his two daughters, Mary and Beth Schoell. He deeply respected his future son-in-law, Beth's fiance, Alex Frederick. Kirk is also survived by his two siblings, Mark Schoell and his partner Marisa Garcia, and Cheryl Tuttle and her husband, Art Tuttle; nieces Chrystal, Jessica, and Alexandra; nephew Brendan; and many close friends who will miss him dearly.
Kirk was passionate about his career in manufacturing and engineering. He began as a machinist where his technical skill and work ethic quickly stood out. Over the years, he transformed into roles in management and leadership in operations. He played a pivotal role in establishing multiple manufacturing programs over the years, from sourcing machinery and building skilled teams to shaping the strategic vision that brought the operation to life. In 2008, he co-founded Cidra Precision Services, LLC, a leading company in the design, manufacturing, and sale of microfluidic components serving the life science, health, and industrial markets. As a co-founder he served as Vice President of Operations until his retirement in 2016, a year after the company was acquired by IDEX Corporation, a global fluidics technology company.
Kirk had a lifelong affinity for mechanical engineering and a remarkable gift for understanding how things work. He had a passion for engines, machinery, home improvement, carpentry, woodworking, cooking, gardening, and camping in his RV. He cherished traveling, from family vacations to annual trips with friends to watch car racing. Kirk poured his heart into his beloved property over the years, where he custom-built his own woodworking shop and geothermal hydroponic greenhouse. He was an incredible big-picture thinker and problem solver, and approached every task with resourcefulness, precision, and care.
Calling hours commemorating Kirk’s life will be held from 8:30-10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025 at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Essex, CT. A service will be held at 12 PM at the First Church of Christ, Congregational in East Haddam, CT, with a burial to follow.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Middlesex Hospital’s hospice team for their support and care during this challenging time. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN).
