Lower east side, stickball and stray dogs among many other things, and amid it all we had family ....and friends who were accepted as family ..... the reason why family became more important than the place that held us was because of guys like Joe...a man of good character who along with his wife, Jean, raised 2 guys who share that same character, and we, those on the near outside of it, saw it and emulated it...that's how it happens...it takes a spark plug...one that knows what is and what is not important...that was Joe, and I'm proud to say THANK YOU for showing us the way....rest easy...make em laugh, you always made me laugh!

Pop you left behind many good memories and plenty of laughs to many people. 
Most of all you left two loving and caring sons. You were a great dad and role model to us both. We will miss you. 
Thank  you for everything Pop. 
Mission accomplished.

I had the honor of knowing and loving Joe like a father for my entire life. When Mike and myself got out the service Joe got us in construction. He would drill into us never to lose the hammer that we were issued.. I still have that hammer Joe. I know your happy about that.. I will always remember the parties at the house..some of the best times of my life..Joe and Jean always treated me like a 3rd son which I will forever appreciate...I love you Joe..May you Rest In Peace 

Little did I know 67 years ago that I hit the lotto when God chose me to be your son.
You made me the person who I am today.
I am so thankful for all the guidance you have given me through the years.
Your not gone 3 days and I miss the hell out of you already.
It comforts me to know that you are with you mother and father and all your brothers.
Know that you have been my hero and rock all my life, and that your love will always be in my heart.

Our families, on the lower east side, were very close...Growing up, his children were my BEST FRIENDS. (and still are). 
In his later years, with the greatest respect, I started to call him 
Uncle Joe. Deservedly so!!!

PS...My father constantly laughed, broke up at some of the things he would say...(Can't Mention here) 

Every morning about 8 good friends would meet at 7-Eleven in Selden at 7:00 am and have coffee with Joe before we went about our day.  We talked and joked about anything and everything and always had a good laugh. It has been the best part of my day for about 5 years now. We all played Powerball every week hoping to hit the big one. Joe would give me a print out of the numbers every Thursday and Saturday hoping we won something.  All the customers that came in knew Poppa Joe.  My mornings will never be the same without him.  Thank you you for your service to our country. Rest in peace.  

Uncle Joe was an Amaxing man! Always had a smile on his face, and so much love in his heart! My Favorite memory was spending Easter at their house! A full house full of kids, parents and of course Grandma! Making a Chinese food run at night and sleeping in the attic in sleeping bags.. Aunt Jean and Uncle Joe always made you feel loved. You will be missed! 💕🙏
