It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Zambito, of Centereach, NY, on October 7, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on July 21, 1953, Mary Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her.
Mary Ann was the beloved mother of Jennifer Ware, Salvatore Zambito, Antenica Zambito, George O'Neal, and Arthur O'Neal. She was a devoted grandmother to Jacob, Esteban, Mariella, Kevin, David, Kaleb, Kylana, Eden, and Adam; and cherished sister of Frank DiGregorio and his wife Christina. She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, including Renee Saporita, Frank DiGregorio Jr., and James "Jimmy" DiGregorio, as well as her dear cousin Philip Faccenda.
Mary Ann’s passing has left an enormous hole in the hearts of her family. She dedicated her life to her children and her beloved cats, teaching them lessons that will live on forever. From an early age, she instilled in all of us the importance of kindness—to people, animals, and even the tiniest of bugs. She despised harming any creature and taught us to treat all life with compassion.
Mom taught us how to be loving, caring parents, and showed us the strength and resilience required to navigate life’s challenges. A true survivor, she showed us that no matter how hard life gets, we must keep going. We will forever hold onto the precious moments we shared with her.
Some of our fondest memories of Mom are the times when she would swim far out into the ocean. Watching her glide through the water so gracefully, we knew she was at peace, in her element. She loved taking us sled riding, turning even the simplest activities into grand adventures.
Mary Ann was a deeply intelligent, strong-willed, and sweet woman. She was always looking for ways to help others—whether it was a stranger in need or an animal she could care for. It’s hard to believe that she is no longer with us, but her legacy of love and strength will live on in all who knew her.
Her family will always remember her beautiful smile, the joy she brought into our lives, and the countless fun memories we made together over the years.
We love you, Mom. You will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held for Mary Ann on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 6-9 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 2326 Middle Country Road, Centereach, NY 11720. A closing prayer by the director will take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 12 PM, followed by a committal service and interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 Route 112, Coram, NY 11727.
