While this note is years too late, I wanted you to know I received this news with shock and a heavy heart. Mike and I were best friends in high school and I have great memories of a guy that was a great friend and someone that cared greatly about his family. I wish that we had a chance to meet, but I moved off of LI long ago.  Please accept my deepest sympathies and I wish you the most wonderful of memories of Mike going forward.

Theresa and family,
I am sorry this is coming to you almost two years after Mike's passing, but I just heard recently. I worked with Mike when I just started my career as a mechanic at Premier Ford in Brooklyn. I was a hot-headed, 20 year old when I met him. Mike gave me more chances than I probably should have had, but he gave me more than chances; he gave me life lessons. Lessons I take with me to this day almost 25 years later. I am a Service Director at a car dealership in NJ now and I often tell others of the stories and lessons I learned from your husband. I often tell people he is one of the people I hold in my highest regard in this business. One of my fondest memories and lessons I ever learned from Mike was when he gave me an engine to replace on a car. I was very inexperienced and in over my head, but he wanted me to do it. I argued at first, but then reluctantly did it. It took me 3 weeks and I set the car on fire (true story). When I finally finished it, i was expecting some easy work to give me a break. Instead he handed me another engine. I couldn't believe it; I really thought he was messing with me or hated me. I was very upset. He came out of his office and pulled me out back. He told me that life is full of challenges and situations we don't want to face. I can walk away from this engine and quit or face it head on and push through it, but choose carefully because if you run away from this, you will run away whenever you are faced with something you don't want to deal with in life. I took the job and replaced that engine. Only four days this time and happily no fire. Those words often echo through my mind. Because of Mike, I have chosen to face the challenge every time and it has given me a good life. I often pass along the lessons I learned to my staff, hoping to make a difference in their lives like he made in mine. I will truly miss him.  I hope God blesses you and your family.

I hope our note gets to you but we just wanted to let you know that we never forget our friends from Kings Park and New Beginnings.  We are not going to say that we are sorry for your loss because your husband's life was certainly a blessing to you and us all.  Instead we are here to say that we are here for you and we want you, although it feels like life cannot go on, to keep his memory alive in your heart and with your children.  We are thinking of you, praying for you, and here to support you.  If you need anything, we are right around the corner.  May God bless you with the inner strength, hope, and love to recover.

So sorry for your loss. I worked with Mike for many years. He loved his family. He was so proud of Michael and would tell us all about all of his children and his wife he adored. He came to work everyday even though his health was failing he tried his best to support his family. I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with your family. Stay strong Theresa.
