Alice Blanchard Melanson, a cherished resident of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on October 23, 1924, Alice lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Known affectionately by many names including GG, Maw Maw, MeMe, and Aunt Chickie, Alice was a feisty lady, a talented seamstress, and a devoted mother. She loved having a cup of coffee and talking with visitors, enjoying a Dearman's hamburger, and savoring a good bowl of chocolate ice cream. Always ready for an adventure, she would often say, "Just let me get my purse."
Alice was deeply involved in her community as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her commitment to service and her vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Marian M. Baker, and her sons, Don Michael Melanson and David Allan Melanson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Melanson, her son, Ben F. Melanson, and her parents, Alice Blanchard and Bonny Blanchard. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held at Central Funeral Home, 9995 Hooper Rd, Central, LA, on January 3, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by a funeral service from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. A committal service will take place at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm. Alice will be laid to rest at Greenoaks Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
Pallbearers honoring Alice's life include Brad Lindsay, Brent Harm, Tyler Thomas, Devin King, Greg LeBlanc, and Martin Poche.
Alice Blanchard Melanson will be remembered for her love, her laughter, and her indomitable spirit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Central Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
