A Baton Rouge native, Barbara Gail enjoyed gardening, painting, and spending time with her Dachshunds. She will be remembered by family and friends as a sweet soul with a gentle nature. Barbara Gail was quiet and reserved, warm and welcoming, and quite funny. She added a touch of elegance and class – and organization – to most everything. She was strong in her Baptist faith. To her daughter, she was a fiercely independent woman who taught her to stand on her own two feet and to speak her mind – though, maybe not so loudly.
Barbara Gail is survived by her daughter Brooke Swanson Bacani and her husband Tiger Bacani, and grandson (whom she adored) Noah Allen Frusha. She also leaves behind her loving brother, Danny Collums and his wife Mary.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald Ray Swanson; father, James Jewett Collums; and mother, Anna Maudry Collums.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Central Funeral Home, Thursday, May 25, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM. Lunch will be available from 12:00 until the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Pastor Terry Swanson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W. Pleasant Rd., Zachary, LA 70791.
