

Betty Medders Day, age 79, of Centreville, Alabama, passed away on August 24, 2021. A native of Centreville, she was born February 26, 1942 to Eula Boyd Medders and Nathan Medders. Betty dedicated her life to her family and was a member of Haysop Baptist Church. When her children were young, she loved to take them swimming at the pool and camping at the lake. As time went on, she expanded her role to Nanny for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and putting together puzzles. Betty was well-known among family and friends for her homemade Christmas candy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Day. She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Mauney (Steve) of Monroe, GA, Carla Hallman (Darrell) of Brent, AL, and Nancy Lawrence (Jeff) of Centreville, AL; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dean Carver of Centreville and Benice Savage (Eddie) of Tuscaloosa; brother, Roy Medders (Carolyn) of Vance; sister-in-law, Kathy McAteer (David) of Tuscaloosa; brothers-in-law, Larry Reece (Myndall) of Tuscaloosa and Danny Day (Cathy) of Tuscaloosa.
The family wishes to extend their tremendous gratitude to the caring staff of Bibb County Nursing Home for the loving care they provided Betty.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Haysop Baptist Church Cemetery in Centreville, with Pastor Ken Blake to officiate. Service as pallbearers will be Cory Mauney, Nick Mauney, Josh Cromer, Ben Oliver, Stephen Kanute and Kelly Savage.
Services are under the direction of Rockco Funeral Home in Centreville, Alabama.
