John Holland Hogg Jr.

John Holland (Junior) Hogg Jr. was born August 18,1929 in dozier, alabama. He passed away on August 29,2014, at Hospice of West Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Junior was a graduate of Dozier Highschool, class of 1948. He served with the United States Army 92nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War. Junior married Betty King of Dozier, Alabama; He attended Auburn University in the early years of their marriage. They were married 60 years. John, as he was known by coworkers, retired from the Alabama Highway Department after a 30 year career as a registered land surveyor. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, crossword puzzles, and local sporting events as well as Auburn football. Junior was Preceded in death by his parents, John Holland Hogg Sr. and Mae Brook; brothers and sisters, Louise Semmes, Donald Ray Hogg, W.J. Hogg, Sara Spencer, and Bruzell Hogg. He is survived by his wife, Betty King; sons Sammy Hogg (Faith) of Fort Deposit, Alabama, and Johnny Hogg (Loretta) of Brent, Alabama; sister, Hazel Rawls of Dozier, Alabama; grandchildren, Staci Wilson, John Hogg, and Laura Nichols; great-grandchildren, Drew and MeriBeth Wilson and Halyn Nichols; and numerous nieces and nephews.
