Angelo Antonio Gonzales, Sr. passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was 65 years old. Angelo was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, where he was known by all as a loving father and grandfather, and a devoted husband. Angelo was an avid fan of LSU and found joy in coaching little league ball in ballparks around the parish. He was an all-around outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, a talented guitar player, and an engaging storyteller, but he was never happier than when spending time with his family, or playing with his granddaughter, "Peanut." He will be fondly missed by everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Angelo is survived by his wife of 24 years, Debbie Gonzales; by his children, Angelo Jr., Chris (Sandy), Michael (Andrea), Austin (Abigayle), Jaime (Derick), Freddie (Mindy), Jason (Kara), and Melissa; by his grandchildren, Mikayla, Lainey, Emma, Jackson, Elliana "Peanut", Jayden, Logan, Ryder, Jason Jr., Bryson, Louis, Anthony, Lexus, Mercedes, Bentley, Gabby, Maxine, Frederick IV, and Chloe; by his siblings, Lisa Barnett, Richard Gonzales, IV, Ricky Gonzales, Rene Gonzales, Tammy Albers, and Robin Hernandez; and by his step-mother, Lillian Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Rose Mary Bottoms (Troy) and the late Richard "Kayo" Gonzales, and by his siblings, the late Jeromine Necaise and the late Douglas Gonzales.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at OUR LADY OF LOURDES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2621 COLONIAL BLVD., in Violet, from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in his memory at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
