Bernardino (Ben) C. Saclo Jr., a loving son, partner, dad, and PawPaw, was born in 1952, in New Orleans and passed away in Kirkland, Washington on April 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. A child of New Orleans to his core, the South was in his blood; its warmth, grit, and spirit were reflected in how he lived and how he loved.
For 42 years, Ben shared his life with Bentena, the love of his life. Together they built a home filled with laughter, resilience, and deep devotion. Ben’s greatest joy existed in his families — supporting, teasing with a smile, or simply being present. He was steady, generous, and fiercely loyal: the one you could always call, no matter the hour.
Ben was the proud dad of Randy, Ricky, Ronnie, Justine, Mona, Christine, and Michelle. He was fully blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his stories and spirit forward.
Ben lived a full and accomplished life. In his younger years, he was recognized as an award-winning high school football player for Warren Easton High School, known for his strength, discipline, and heart on the field. He answered a higher call by serving his country as a Navy veteran in Vietnam, a service he carried with quiet pride. After his military service, Ben returned to football as a college walk-on player at LSU, a testament to his determination and love of the game.
Never afraid of hard work or challenge, Ben took on the rigorous electrical exams and became a journeyman electrician. His dedication and expertise led him to master the demanding standards of an electrical inspector for the City of Seattle. His work helped shape the city’s skyline and infrastructure. Ben’s name is recognized on some of the most impressive structures in Seattle, from stadiums to major tunnel projects, where his contributions are permanently honored.
Ben was grounded in his faith and fully understood who is in control of all things. His stories will be retold at family gatherings, his lessons will echo in the lives of his children and grandchildren, and his mark will endure both in the city he helped build and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Ben also leaves behind his mother, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and friends plus a legacy of service, craftsmanship, and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, May 8th from 9:00AM – 12:00PM. A burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
