Chad was a devoted and loving father to his three children, Gianni Luca Ricks (19), Molly Olivia Ricks (13), and Lincoln Mathias Ricks (11), who were the center of his world and his greatest accomplishments. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ricks Bigner, and is survived by his sister, Angela Westcott; his niece, Laila Mai Westcott; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who were deeply touched by his life and will carry his memory forward. Chad also leaves behind lifelong friends who were like family to him and his children.
Chad graduated from Chalmette High School in 1996 and continued his education at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, where he earned an associate’s degree in Drafting. He went on to build a successful career as an adjuster, developing a respected expertise in restoration, mitigation, and construction renovation.
Above all, he will be remembered as an extraordinary father. He took immense pride in his children and cherished every moment spent with them. His strong work ethic, loving heart, and willingness to help anyone in need, no matter his own circumstances, defined the way he lived his life.
He had a gift for bringing light into any situation. His quick wit, wisecracks, and borderline inappropriate humor (that's what she said), kept those around him laughing, and his Dad jokes were unforgettable. His laughter was contagious, and no matter how much time had passed, he greeted everyone as if no time had gone by at all.
He also had a thoughtful and reflective side, with a rare ability to meet people where they were and make them feel understood. Being around Chad made you want to be a better person.
Chad will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered first for the incredible father he was, his love of family, his deep and lasting friendships, and his ability to find humor even in life’s most difficult moments. His memory will live on through his children and the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Abby Rose, 2900 Oak Ridge Blvd., Violet, Louisiana 70092, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 2:00pm. Blessing and remembrance will begin at 2:15pm with a reception to follow at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe has been set up to assist Chad’s children with post-graduation expenses.
