Charles (Chuckie) A Polo III, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2024 at his home in Arabi, LA surrounded by his family. Chuckie was born on June 25, 1958 in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of Arabi, LA. He is survived by his wife Maura and his two sisters, Christy Saladino (Anthony) and Debbie Crystal (the late Russell) his two Maltese, Duke and Zeus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A Polo, Jr and Emily Olike Polo.
Chuckie’s extended family includes Maura’s son from a previous marriage, Raymond Byrnes III and his daughter Brenna Byrnes who affectionately called him Poppa C.
Kim Duvic was a part of Chuckie’s life for two decades and she passed away shortly after hurricane Katrina.
After hurricane Katrina he went back to his home in Arabi where he rebuilt his house and to create “Chuckieville”—he bought surrounding lots that allowed him to have a vegetable garden filled with his favorite veggies, while his wife, Maura, had her space for flowers and plants of varying colors. He loved maintaining Chuckieville, including Maura’s fairy garden. All her figurines were solar powered and at night, he always waited for a plane to land in their yard because of all the lights the fairy garden produced.
Chuckieville was the site of many happy gatherings: watching football games, having fish frys, or just hanging out listening to music and drinking beer.
The main event at Chuckieville was when he married Maura, the love of his life.
Chuckie’s dad taught him how to fish at a very young age and loved sharing his skill with all his friends and his friend’s children. His true passion was fishing—it filled his heart and soul with true joy for life.
Chuckie's sister-in-law, Alline Loebach, took on the role of his caregiver since June, helping with meals, healthcare, and, most importantly, his cherished lawn care. Chuckie was famously particular about his grass, often peering out the window like a watchful general to ensure Alline mowed with the precision he demanded - because, in Chuckie’s eyes, a perfectly manicured lawn was nothing short of a masterpiece!
Many Christmas dinners with his sister Christy and brother in law Tony filled him with joy of being with family at a very special time of the year.
Traveling was another passion of Chuck’s — he traveled to visit his loved ones and to see our wonderful country. He was at peace in California and Colorado with his sister Debbie—they made many memories that will last a lifetime.
Chuckie was so easy going, fun, kind, loving, generous and most of all funny! He will always be remembered and loved.
Chuckie worked at Lacassagne’s Inc for many years and after hurricane Katrina he worked at Chisesi’s Brothers and Diamond Distributing until he retired. Many friends were also made during his employment.
We love you Chuckie and will miss you. We carry your heart in our hearts!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W.
