Cindy Gioe Miller, age 68, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, after a courageous 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on July 23, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and raised in St. Bernard, Louisiana, Cindy lived a life defined by strength, devotion, and endless love for her family and community.
Cindy was the beloved daughter of Joseph Ross Gioe and Shirley Blanchard Gioe, and the cherished granddaughter of Louis Blanchard, Jane Uzee Blanchard, Lucien Gioe, and Rosa Patti Gioe. She is survived by her loving husband, Randal Anthony Miller, and her devoted son, Ram Anthony Miller, along with her daughter-in-law, Andrea Hebert Miller. She was also the cherished daughter-in-law of Donald Ray Miller and Hillary Tinney Miller.
Her greatest joy in life was being “Nana” to her three treasured grandchildren—Lexington Olivier, Catherine Olivier, and Gram Miller—who brought her endless pride and happiness. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel Joseph Gioe, and by many extended family members and lifelong friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Cindy began her education at Our Lady of Prompt Succor (OLPS), later attending Andrew Jackson High School, where she served proudly as captain of the girls’ softball team, leading them to multiple state championships. She continued her studies at Southeastern Louisiana University, earning her degree and going on to build a long and dedicated 44-year career with the United States Navy, where she retired with honor.
A true sports enthusiast, Cindy was a devoted New Orleans Saints fan, her passion for black and gold unwavering. She loved NASCAR Sundays, especially cheering on her favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, and she shared weekly race conversations with her father—moments she deeply cherished. Her love of sports extended into her community, where she spent countless hours at Rebel Park with the Rebel Raiders, coaching baseball and soccer and serving as treasurer for the Rebel Booster Club.
Cindy embraced life’s joys with her whole heart. She loved playing cards at the casino, especially poker and Texas Hold’em. She delighted in traveling, watching baseball games with her grandchildren, and attending her beloved Zumba classes, always excited to show off her newest moves. Her music taste reflected her bold and lively spirit, ranging from classic rock favorites—Queen, Meat Loaf, Journey, Aerosmith—to country icons like Brooks & Dunn and Reba McEntire. Though her favorite color was red, her truest passion always remained black and gold.
Cindy’s love was fierce, her laughter unforgettable, and her spirit unshakeable. Even through her long and difficult battle with cancer, she faced each day with courage, grace, and hope. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion that will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, December 6th from 10:00AM - 11:00AM, followed by a Memorial Mass beginning at 11:00AM.
