He will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters-in-law Felix Earl Arceneaux, Jr. (Barbara); Stephen and Cynthia Arceneaux; and Robert and JoAnn Arceneaux; grandchildren Arlan and Kelly Gebbia, Corey Gebbia, Bobby and Jessica Norton, Stefani Sercovich, Amanda and Jessica Paxton, Gabrielle and Victoria Burns, Gary and Jacob Hebert; and great-grandchildren, Arlan and Ayden Gebbia, and Demi Rose Dorcey. Also preceded in death by his parents Felix E. and Rosalie L. Bruno Arceneaux, Sr. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom he adored. As anyone who knew him can attest, Dan was a generous, kind, loving and spiritual person. He showed his love for his family every day, whether adding on to the house when expecting his fourth daughter or building a swing set from scratch for his grandchildren. For years he served as volunteer chairman of the St. Bernard Parish Coastal Zoning Committee, working diligently to protect St. Bernard Parish and close the MRGO. His efforts were realized when he was honored to throw the first rock to close it in 2009. He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy Sea Bees for eight years, serving in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba as an electrician. He retired after 30+ years at AMSTAR Domino Sugar, working his way up from a union electrician to management. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and never came home with an empty ice chest. Dan spent many years shrimping to make extra money to pay for 5 weddings. In his later years, he developed a passion for gardening and took pride in growing a variety of plants, trees and flowers. He was made an honorary member of the Islenos Society by volunteering his time and talents often. He was a man of strong faith. He truly believed that God has a plan for all of us and that our ultimate goal is to one day make it to heaven. He will be greatly missed, but has now begun his eternal life and made it home to Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to the American Diabetes Association on behalf of Daniel Arceneaux at www.diabetes.org or 800-342-2383.
