David Anthony Gonzalez Sr.

David “Dave” Anthony Gonzalez Sr., a devoted family man and esteemed veteran, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the age of 74. Born on July 21, 1949 in San Antonio, TX, David spent his years in Meraux, LA raising his family. He was a pillar of strength and humor, always offering guidance and unconditional love to his children.

David was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served one tour. After his service, he continued to serve his country at the United States Department of Agriculture. David spent his free time as a devout Christian and served the Lord as a youth pastor at Glory Bound Ministries. He also was a lover of “oldies music and history.

David is survived by his sons David Gonzalez Jr. (Jennifer) and Robert Gonzalez (Natasha); his grandchildren Kayla, Nathaniel, Joshua, Emily, and Kaidyn; the mother of his children and caregiver Kathleen Bivona Greer; and siblings Diana Gonzalez, Delma Gonzalez, Robert Gonzalez, Mary Von Hoven (Mark), and Jo Carol Guerra. He is preceded in death by his parents Mario and Inez Gonzalez; and his siblings John Gonzalez.

David may have left this world, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.
