David Thomas Vaughn

David was born on January 29, 1957, in New Orleans and lived with enthusiasm and a deep love for the people around him. For 26 years, he and his wife Kim shared a life full of love and steady companionship. It was the little things that brought David the most happiness. He was an avid lover of computer games and found joy in the challenges they offered. His heart was deeply touched by all music, especially gospel, and he never missed an opportunity to attend JazzFest, where the melodies spoke to his soul.

With an enjoyment for photography, David loved capturing the beauty of birds through his lens, spending many serene mornings outdoors waiting for just the right shot. His backyard was his sanctuary, a place he nurtured lovingly.

David has joined his beloved children, Elizabeth Vaughn and Eugene Vaughn, his parents Shirley S. Vaughn and Shirley T. Vaughn, and his brother John Vaughn and sister Carolyn Gracia in the Kingdom of Heaven.

He is survived by his wife Kim L. Vaughn; his step-children Amanda Nunez and Chase Nunez (Brooke); his siblings Bob Vaughn (CJ), Mike Vaughn (Lydia), Sr. Shirley Vaughn CCVI, and Judy Rosanno; Godmother Sara Oubre; grandchildren Joshua Vaughn, Brittany Nagim, Rowan Stevens, Raiden Stevens, and Benjamin Plauche; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will take place at St. Louis No. 3, 3421 Esplanade Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119 at a later date.
