

Donald J. Drago passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 9:15 A.M. at the age of 81. Born to Rhea and Sidney Drago in New Orleans, he worked and lived most of his life in St. Bernard Parish. Don worked for the St. Bernard School District and was known and loved for his expertise in helping people with his skill as a locksmith. Don also was a barber since the age of 15 and used this skill until the end enjoying “family cuts” for free. Don and wife Joy retired to Hide Away Lake, Carrier, MS in 1996, returning to St. Bernard after 10 years just in time for “’Katrina”. They went back to Hide Away for another 8 years and finally moved to Metairie to be near family in 2014. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Rhea, brother R.J. Drago and daughter–in-law Wendy. He is Survived by his loving wife Joy, his children, Don, Scott (Sheila), Teeny (Larry), Sherry (Jeff), Mark (Lori), 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Don enjoyed fishing with his sons, building picnic tables, cooking, gardening, football, traveling and family get togethers, especially if he was the chef. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 9: 00 A.M – 11:00 A.M.
