Edna Pearl Pope

Edna Pearl passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was 99. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Hiram Skinner and Golda Virginia Barnes and by her sister Betty Downs. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 39 years, Edward Pope as well as her second husband Stafford Rabalais.

Surviving to cherish her memory are Edna's four children, Sandra Gervais (George, deceased), Alanda O’Brien (John), Edward Pope (Bethann) and Mike Pope (Carol, deceased). Edna was the loving grandmother of Sheree Serpas (Billy), Tim O’Brien (Jeannie), John Patrick O’Brien (Kim), David Perrett, Jeremy O’Brien (Beth), Eric Pope (Stephanie), Josh Pope (Sandy), Cheryl St. Germaine (Keith), John Fulcher (Keri), Linda Stafford (Todd), and Debbie Town. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Joseph, Jorden, Shana, Stephanie(deceased), Daniel, Jonathan, Colin, Tyler, Thomas, Emma, Catherine, Erika, Katelynn, Emily, Edward, William, Caleb, Rachelle, Katelyn, Sarah, Emily, Tyler, Derrick, Nicholas, and Matthew as well as 17 great-great grandchildren, and many special friends in the Chalmette, Louisiana area and in Georgia.

She was active in First Baptist Church of Chalmette for many years where she taught Sunday School and volunteered in the pantry. She always had a love for sewing and prided herself in making a Raggedy Ann or Andy doll for those she loved. Most importantly, Edna will be remembered for loving and serving the Lord with all her heart, and with all her soul, and with all her mind.

Edna’s family would like to thank the staff of Modern Home Health and Hospice in Denham Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Chalmette or your nearest Hospice facility.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Laurel, MS.
