Elaine C. Hebert peacefully made her journey home surrounded by her loved ones on Feb. 15, 2022, at 78 years old. She was born on May 7, 1943, and was a resident of Chalmette, LA for over 40 years. She moved to Slidell in 2005 and resided there for the remainder of her life. In her younger years, she was an Accountant for Adler’s on Canal St, taught Catechism at St. Mark’s Catholic School for 15 years, taught sewing classes, was a Brownie and Girl Scout Troop Leader and worked at The Department of Agriculture with her bestie, our Pretty Aunt Sandy. In her later years she attended Delgado Community College in New Orleans and became a certified Floral Designer and enjoyed a happy 20+ year career creating arrangements for various occasions and meeting people like Bono, Sting and Bon Jovi along her journey as a florist. She worked tirelessly for many years in the floral design industry until she was diagnosed with a brain tumor on her hypothalamus in 2006. Following surgery and its complications she retired and spent the remainder of her years being the rock of her family and loving all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart and always being there for them. She loved nothing more than when her family would gather for holidays, birthdays and random UNO games and get-togethers with her famous lasagna and chicken fricassee. She was always a good sport with her “good-lookin’ Grandsons”, children and hubs when they would get a laugh out of her naivete. She had the greatest laugh and it was infectious, we all would do and say anything to make her laugh. She loved Cheetos and popcorn and QVC and was addicted to all 3 daily. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will last a lifetime. We are all comforted to know she is now in the loving arms of Our Savior Jesus and reunited with the love of her life of 58 years. They traveled the world together and now they’re traveling the heavenly plane together with everyone else that has gone before, waiting for the day we’ll all be reunited. She is survived by her loving Daughter/Caretaker Sheree Hebert Davis (Mike) and Son Harry J. Hebert, III., Grandchildren Ryan A. Simon (Brittany), Aaron M. Davis (Kasey) and Seth J. Davis (Samantha), Great-Grandchildren Abby, Kensey, Kylie and Kinley and Brother Frank A. Chartier, Jr. (Donna). She is loved and missed also by a host of many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank A. Chartier, Sr. and Laura B. Chartier and her loving husband Harry J. Hebert, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a gathering on Friday, March 4, 2022, at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE STREET, in Chalmette, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A memorial service will be held in her memory at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
