Elsie Nunez Smith

Elsie Nunez Smith passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the age of 91. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends. She was the cherished wife of 59 years to the late Charles “Chuck” Lee Smith. Elsie is survived by her brother, Allen J. Nunez (Janet), and fondly remembered by many cousins, relatives and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, August Nunez and Mae DeoGracias Nunez; her siblings Esther Gonzales, Evelyn Brooks, Augustine “Tina” Cantrelle, Alfred J. Nunez, August Nunez, Gerald Nunez and Clifton Nunez.

Elsie was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. She had a deep relationship with God and shared his love with all. Her memories will live forever through her example and deep love for her family and friends. Elsie’s favorite song was “I Love You More”. She will be forever missed by all the lives she touched.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at OUR LADY OF LOURDES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2621 Colonial Blvd, Violet, LA on Saturday, May 6th from 10:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 12:00PM. Elsie will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. Donations can be sent to Notredame Hospice in memory of Elsie.
