

Emmett Allen Shubert, aged 64, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 6th, in Chalmette, LA. He was born in New Orleans, LA, to Lorraine Diaz Haffner and Emmett Allen Shubert. A proud resident of both Chalmette, LA, and Tampa, FL, he graduated from Chalmette High School in 1977. Allen was a skilled self-taught mechanic from a young age, honing his craft while working at various Marine Repair companies along the New Orleans Riverfront, including Dixie Machine, Buck Kreihs, Bergeron, and Avondale Shipyards, where he served as a Millwright and Outside Machinist.
Allen's greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends, where he was known as the life of the party, always surrounded by loved ones. He had a passion for riding motorcycles, playing pool, darts, foosball, and occasionally testing his luck at video poker.
Allen was preceded in death by his stepfather, Alvin Donald Diaz; father, Emmett Allen Shubert; and brother, Don Alvin Diaz. He is survived by his daughter, Shawn Ann Shubert Browning; his mother, Lorraine Diaz Haffner; sisters, Donna Shubert Stone, Angie Giddens, and Amanda Sanges; his brothers, Christopher Diaz, Mark Diaz, Dale Taylor, Chris Shubert, and Jason Shubert; his partner, Jan Schlesinger; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
All those whose lives were touched by Emmett are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at OUR LADY of PROMPT SUCCOR CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2320 Paris Rd, Chalmette, LA on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM. A memorial mass will begin at 12:00 PM.
