Eulalia “Lollie” Agatha Chapaty Harris passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the age of 93. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. She was the cherished wife of the late John Harris Jr. Loving mother of Mary Ann Gambino (the late Anthony), Jeanne Blume, John Harris III, Linda Stack (Mike) and James Harris (Tina). Daughter of the late Alphons Chapaty and Anne Kolonko Chapaty. Sister of the late Regina Bouldt, Adela Robinson, Clara Koch and Anne Bernhard. Proud grandmother of Vanessa, Anthony “AJ”, Laura, James, Christie, Amanda, Christopher, Samantha and Alex. Great grandmother of Garrett, Dominick, Dillan, Aidan, Savanna, William and Caroline. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Eulalia, born on a farm, south of San Antonio, TX, embarked on a life's journey that spanned generations and touched countless hearts. Her love for adventure, her spirited nature, and her affinity for the excitement of the casino floor will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved her.
Her early years were spent in the embrace of the San Antonio farm, where she developed a deep connection to the land and the beauty of nature. Graduating from Harlandale High School in San Antonio, she carried with her the values of hard work and determination that would shape her future.
Fate intervened when Eulalia crossed paths with the love of her life, John, while he was serving in the United States Air Force in San Antonio. Their love story blossomed against the backdrop of military service, leading them on a journey that would see them traverse the country. From California to Texas, Mississippi to Okinawa, and Alabama to their final home in the vibrant city of New Orleans, LA, Eulalia and John shared a life rich with experiences and adventures. Despite their travels, Eulalia's heart remained rooted in the city where her journey began, San Antonio.
Eulalia's heritage, a blend of Polish and Czechoslovakian roots, added a unique and colorful dimension to her character. Her dedication to her faith, tradition, family values, and the warmth of human connection was a testament to her diverse ancestry. Her kindness extended beyond humans; her love for animals led her to bring home stray dogs, offering them a second chance at love and companionship.
One could often find Eulalia enjoying herself at the casino, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she pulled the lever on the Wild Cherry slot machine. Her vivacity, laughter, love for life and warm spirit were truly contagious, making her the life of every gathering. Above all, Eulalia cherished her time spent with her family, friends, and she so adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her unconditional love and unwavering support were a beacon of strength for those fortunate enough to be part of her life. Her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
Although we will deeply miss Eulalia, let us remember her with smiles and laughter, for her life was a celebration of love and joy. Her light will forever shine in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Our family would like to extend a special thanks and gratitude to the staff of Greenbriar Community Center for their exceptional care and professionalism.
