George Anthony Cordes, Sr. of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. He was 87 years old. George is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Olivia Blanchard Cordes; his children George Cordes, Jr. (Debbie), Greg Cordes and Cindy Alonzo (Chester). Grandchildren, George III (Tarah), Glenn (Melissa), and Jason (Jaclyn) Cordes, Amanda Brown (Wesley), and Erica and Emily Alonzo. Great-grandchildren Claire, Tristan, Peyton and Olivia Cordes, and Alyssa and Alexis Brown. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his beloved great-grandson Blake Michael Cordes, his parents, Andrew and Edna Wiltz Cordes and his siblings, Andrew, Charley and Lawrence Cordes, Rita Henry, Mabel Willmouth, Margie Cordes and Shirley Methvin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. A funeral mass will be held in George’s honor at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, with military honors.
