

In loving memory of Gerald Paul Mills, a true enthusiast of life on the water and a passionate sportsman. Gerald Paul Mills, age 84, of Chalmette, Louisiana passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories that revolve around his love for fishing, shrimping, and all things athletic.
He was a loving father to sons Kevin Mills and Keith Mills; grandchildren Kayla Mills and Kevin Mills Jr.; great-grandchildren Kamdyn Joseph Dunn and Devyn Bailey Christine Mills; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years Janice “Christine” Mills; son Kurt Mills; parents Anthony Mills and Louise Mills; and siblings Earline (Roy) Richard and Harry Mills (Shirley).
Born on October 22, 1939 in New Orleans, LA, Gerald had a natural affinity for the water, Gerald found joy in every wave, making fishing expeditions more than a pastime but a way of life. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he reeled in the day's catch, sharing the thrill of the ocean with friends and family. Not only was Gerald a master of the sea, but he also displayed unmatched dedication to sports. Whether playing on the field or coaching from the sidelines at Rebel Park, his love for sportsmanship shone through. He inspired countless individuals with his unwavering commitment to teamwork, discipline, and the pursuit of excellence.
Beyond his outdoor pursuits, Gerald was a devoted worker, dedicating more than thirty years to his sales career at PepsiCo. In addition, he was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, receiving multiple Marksmanship Awards. In remembering Gerald, let us celebrate the vibrant life he lived, embracing the memories of shared sunsets on the water and the thrill of a successful catch.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA 70043, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
