

Howard "Bud" "HOJO" Johnson Jr. passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the age of 90. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on November 19, 1934. He is preceded in death by his parents Alice Stratton Jones Johnson and Howard Taft Johnson Sr., his brother Walter William Johnson, his son Howard "Buddy" Taft Johnson lll, his late ex-wife Jane Cadella Johnson. He is survived by his daughter Alice Rose Johnson Ginart, his son in law Michael C. Ginart Jr., his grandchildren John Claude Ginart (Ashley), and Jayne Cecelia Ginart (Jacob), his great grandchildren Averi, Michael, and Beau, his nieces and nephews Augustine and Jacob Johnson, Jacqueline Johnson Caminita (Jack), and his great niece Gianna Rey Caminita. His Godchild Stacie Pecar Dumas.
Bud graduated from Fortier High School and Tulane University. He served in the Korean War in the Army. HOJO spent his working life in the tire business in the Greater New Orleans Area. Outside of work, he enjoyed gardening, swimming, early mornings at iHop, Par 3 and Charlie's. Bud was also a voracious reader of thrillers and history. His favorite afternoons consisted of watching football with his family and petting the dogs.
Bud will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, and the simple joys he cherished - hot coffee, a good book, and time spent with loved ones. His stories, wit, and warmth will live on through the generations he leaves behind. The family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with those he missed so dearly, and that his legacy of love and resilience continues in each of us. The family would like to give a special thank you to Oak Park Village in Slidell for their support and kindness during this time.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Thursday June 26, 2025 from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA. A Memorial Mass will begin in the chapel at 12:00 noon. Howard will be laid to rest with military honors in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery, New Orleans.
