Joseph Robert “Bob” Hargis passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the age of 84. He was born March 15, 1930 to the late Rosa Maria Carbo Hargis and Guy Joseph Hargis in New Orleans. Bob resided in Arabi, LA for many years and most recently lived in Ponchatoula. Loving husband of Helen Bourgeois Hargis for over 60 years. Beloved father of Kirk Hargis (Faye), Kathy Decareaux (Larry), and Darlene Rhodes (David). He cherished his adoring grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his sister, Rose Marie Gonzales. He proudly served in the U S Navy and was known as “Poppa Joe” until his retirement from Home Depot. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 1:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 2:30 PM. Interment will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, masses preferred or donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
