

Joyce Olinde Daigle, 87, of Diamondhead, MS passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 14, 2015. She was born in New Orleans, LA on December 26, 1927 to the late Lizard and Josephine “June” Brouillette Olinde. She lived most of her life in St. Bernard Parish and relocated to Diamondhead, MS after Hurricane Katrina. Joyce graduated from Walter Cohen High School and was employed by Bell South/AT&T for 45 years, retiring in 1990. She was a life member of the Bell South/AT&T Telephone Pioneers and served as Crescent City Council President for many years. She, along with her husband, worked many charitable events for the Pioneers. Joyce enjoyed dancing, reading, cooking and going to the casinos. She was a devout Catholic, dedicated wife, loving mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her generosity, caring heart, and friendly nature. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and husband of 63 years, Herbert A. Daigle. Survivors include her daughters June Truitt (Alan), Leah Ferrer (late Philip Jr.), Ann Byrne (Timothy); grandchildren Christopher Smith (Candy), Daniel Smith (Rebecca), Laura Smith, Jeanne Ferrer (Mickey), Brandi Ferrer (Thomas), Philip Ferrer III (Tabitha), Jennifer Byrne, Evan Byrne; great-grandchildren Kailee Smith, Camryn Smith, Catelyn Smith, Colleen Smith, Philip Ferrer IV, Katerina Ferrer; her sister Faye Olinde Palao and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2621 Colonial Blvd, Violet, LA 70092 on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 12:30-1:30 am followed by a Mass. Relatives, friends and guests are invited to help celebrate Joyce’s life by joining us for a reception in the Cottage next to the church following the Mass. In Lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made in Joyce’s memory to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln DeLisle Rd., Pass Christian, MS 39571 or to the Notre Dame Hospice at http://notredamehospice-no.org
