

Our father, grandfather & friend Lanny Charles Villanueva, Sr., was called home to our Lord and Savior on July 12, 2020, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband and best friend of the late Dora Ann Guillotte Villanueva with whom he spent 50 great years and had three children, daughter Lana Montelongo (Monty), Lanny Villanueva, Jr. (Tanya) and Georganna Alphonso (Timmy) with whom he resided with the last 15 years. Lanny had nine grandchildren: Monica Montelongo, Natalie Nunez (Benny), Monty Montelongo (Cheri), Natasha Gonzales (Robbie), Kristin Nunez (Kelly), Lauren Vobel (Matt), Amber Villanueva, Erica Alphonso, and Timmy Alphonso (Hailee), and he had 18 great-grandchildren which he adored. Born on October 28, 1935, to the late George and Eloise Ansardi Villanueva, Sr., brother of Mercedes Villanueva Caluda (Dan) and the late George Villanueva, Jr. (Margaret).
He served six years in the Army National Guard with an Honorable Discharge. In his early years, he serviced the St. Bernard Parish area as a Television Repairman, where he was a friend to everyone. He was later employed and retired after 20 years from the St. Bernard Parish School Board as a Bus Driver.
He was a devout Catholic parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and a Religious Education Teacher for over 15 years. He was a recipient of the St. Louis Medallion, and spent many years dedicating his service to the Our Lady of Lourdes Violet Oyster Festival. His favorite pastime was going to the Casino and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass which will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 2621 Colonial Blvd. in Violet, on Saturday, July 18, 2020. Visitation will begin at 9:00 with Mass at 12:30. Burial will take place at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
